The idea of a KBBQ Bahn Mi was pretty intriguing, so I decided to pick it up from this spot
I'm a massive fan of this sandwich - it was pretty great This baguette was one of the best I've had. Going into it, I was expecting it to be chewy and hard to eat, specifically on the outside. I knew the inside would probably be good, but based on other baguettes I've had - I was preparing my jaw for some pain. On the contrary, this bread ended up amazing. It was crispy on the outside, but offered just the right amount of resistance without being chewy at all. It tasted super fresh, and the inner half was very soft and easy to pull apart
The rest of the toppings were also great. The red cabbages were very plentiful, the aioli was ever-present, and the caramelized onions were amazing - the latter being the highlight of the vegetables. There was also a ton of arugula involved, making this a very green-focused sandwich. Going back to the aioli - I love how this wasn't just spread on the bun - it was spread on the vegetables and meat as well.
Maybe the only small issue I have with this sandwich was the meat. It tasted fine, but a little bit chewy, and didn't get too much flavor. I thought it could've been marinated better. Nothing that really dragged my experience down though
Price-wise, this was $14 for a 7-inch sandwich, and it ended up being more than enough food for a filling lunch. Great value. Wish this was open on weekends/nights
Overall, the great combination of ingredients within this sandwich, combined with an exceptional baguette, make this one of the top lunch places in...
Read moreWe finally tried this place the other day and were completely disappointed. I had the salmon sandwich, which is a processed salmon patty, not a filet. It was dry and fishy, plus they did not honor the modifications I requested. My husband had the chicken katsu sandwich which was better than mine, but the piece of chicken was about 2mm thick in places, so it was mostly breading. Certainly nothing I would order again. Both sandwiches were also a complete mess and impossible to pick up and eat like a regular sandwich.
There were 3 people ahead of me in line, and it took almost 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches. Despite entering my name and being given an order number, they never called me up. I finally had to go ask, after I saw them working on the sandwich that the person after me ordered. The two people working there were so disorganized. I literally saw them pass the same sandwich back and forth 4 times, like they could only each put one ingredient on at a time.
The prices are good, but unfortunately, that's because the quality is lacking. Oh, and watch out because even though you do all the ordering yourself (there is no human interaction whatsoever, just a kiosk), the tip prompts go all the way up to 25%. Seriously,...
Read moreI was in the building for an eye exam and hadn’t eaten all day — this was literally just the first thing I saw. I’m really glad I tried it though! I love a good sandwich, potato salad, soup, etc and I wasn’t disappointed. I got the tuna salad sandwich, and it was exactly what I expect a tuna salad sandwich to be. Pretty typical, and very satisfying. I also got the tomato soup, which was a lot more interesting than most tomato bisques you’ll get. It has very very small bits of (I think) carrots in it, and I liked that instead of just being completely puréed. The potato salad was my favorite part, it had eggs and pears in it and wasn’t overwhelmed with mayonnaise like so often happens. I would come back just to get that again. It’e a purely functional SLU grab and go type of place, but the two guys who were working there were very friendly despite the impersonal nature of this type of workday lunch spot. I really enjoyed my food, and as far as I can tell this seems to be an actual locally owned small business so I hope...
