We had a good experience with the jeep tour. We booked the Lil' Rattler tour for 2 kids and 2 adults and it was perfect.
Don't be fooled by the Lil' Rattler tour. It is the most mild of tours, and has a cute name, but it is BUMPY. It was just bumpy and chaotic enough to give us that off road feeling without getting to the point where we felt we were in danger of getting stuck or having some kind of physical issue.
Our guide, Sierra, was a great guide and an awesome driver. We got a good look at the area and its beautiful landscapes and rock formations. She answered every question we had about the area and was very informative.
About our day, we were scheduled on a pretty cold and wet day. They have blankets for sale in the building you leave from. The jeeps are open air, which is good, but the wind added to the cold during our trip. But the jeep had HEATED SEATS! This was huge. It really kept us warm.
Because it was wet, we got a little muddy while riding inside the jeep just from splashes and what not, so if it isn't already obvious, prepare to get a little dirty if you go on the jeep tour.
I've read about tours that take off road vehicles to get close to spots that take way longer when hiking to them. That didn't really happen on our tour. Maybe that is offered on other tours of theirs and not the Lil' Rattler. The only time we got out was to take some pictures in the middle of the area we were touring. The Lil' Rattler did not advertise that it would take us to anything like that. It is just a thought I had on the way back to our cars.
This is a great family outing with a little extreme offroading to see the area while on vacation in Sedona. I would recommend the Lil' Rattler tour for any family...

Zac Hill was our awesome jeep tour guide. We were given the choice of trail by bumpyness. Easy paved, medium gravel, or hard bumpy ride, we chose the bumpy fun ride. He and the gal at the registration desk suggested a sunset tour at a specific time of departure to enjoy the ride with the sun in the perfect spot and for picture taking and breath taking views. Zac was very friendly, and gave us the tour in a non-scripted way. He was very laid back, and took the time to answer all of our questions, point out things of interest, give detailed explanations, and even share some of his personal history. Once we got to the top, he showed us spots for great pictures. My brother-in-law was a bit daring with picture taking by sitting a bit close to the edge of a rock formation with a moral drop below. Zac was very concerned for his safety, as were the rest of us. But pictures were taken and good memories made. Our tour was very bumpy and Zac handled the terrain like a boss. We were in no way concerned about his driving ability and knew were were safe even if was going fast at some portions of the tour. I absolutely had a blast on our tour and I would do it again on another trail sometime in the future with Zac as the tour guide.
Our tour was for 2 hours but it actually lasted 2.5 hours....
