On Tahoe Time — Local services in South Lake Tahoe

I purchased a lake relief map/carving for a special occasion for a relative. I searched a lot of places on line and based on a couple of personal preferences and also the location of this lake I took a chance with On Tahoe Time after months of trying to decide which company to purchase from.

Well it has arrived, early, and is exactly what I had hoped for and more (but could not really tell from online photos). Beautiful craftsmanship, great labels of roads and depths of the lake. I did buy the 11x14 size its the smallest one that actually shows the various depths, which was important to me. I also got the cherry frame finish which I thought might be darker but looked light on the website and it is close to the matting color and I like that so that "fades into the background" and the lake it self stands out. I also was a bit hesitant because this version IS very sort of turquoise forward and other places do something more green. But that color is also a fav of the person I got it for, and it is beautiful.

And finally this site was somewhat cheaper than others. I don't mind paying more for small business and crafts-people, but actually not knowing what it would look like in person or my relative would like it, felt more comfortable with the price. I totally recommend this place and this idea as a gift. The recipient was so very surprised this idea...

The items they display in the store are beautiful. They had to order the piece I picked out from the artist as it was out of stock in the size I wanted. I asked how long it would take and they said 4 weeks. So I will have long before Christmas? Absolutely. That was the response on Oct 13, when I visited the store. Here it is Dec. 16 and my order was never submitted to the artist, until Nov 6. Still more then 4 weeks ago. My first phone call trying to locate it was on Nov 23. I now believe, that was the date my order actually was found and sent to the artist as now they are hoping it will ship next week, hmmm. Dec 21 or so. I will not have it for Christmas and there is nothing the store will do. I asked if they one that is in the store could be sent and was not answered. So, if you go there, take it with you. The follow up on orders is nil and they are not helpful in solutions, even though it was their mistake (not mine, nor...

Absolutely incredible store filled with so many amazing things. There were 40+ things in the store I would have bought if I were rich!

However, there was 1 thing I did want to buy. I asked to see if they could ship it (since I live in Canada and the item was too big to fly home with). The girl at the cash was extremely helpful and took my information and said the owner would contact me about pricing, details, etc. I gave my name, number and email. Unfortunately, I never heard from anyone, so I did not get the item what I wanted and was willing to pay for (including shipping).

I understand if shipping wasn't possible, but some communication would have been appreciated. If I had gotten that, then I would have returned and purchased something smaller before I finally left the Lake Tahoe area. But now I am gone, back in Canada, so that ship (or...
