Not the close to 5 star rating experience I was expecting. I was super excited to visit this place from it's ratings and menu. When we first got there the 2 tables that were open were dirty so we decided to wipe the table we chose, no problem. I went up to order and the person who took my order seemed pleasant enough. I would rate the pastries 4 stars depending on what you get but potatoes in the farmer's breakfast weren't so good. 1 star for service for sure, except for the kitchen staff as our food came at a time deemed acceptable. They were polite at first until I told them they got my drink order wrong,  ordered a Lavender Chai Latte. Then they looked pretty annoyed. We got done with our food and I still did not get my drink so we went up to ask and they looked annoyed again. Turns out they wrote out order to be made after a bunch of other orders so they said they will make it quick. Someone called out my drink order and handed it to my husband. It was  completely different drink from the name they called out. Turns out another party had the same experience before us with not getting their drink and they left without getting their soy latte and they made that instead but called it my lavender chai latte. So, I was not very happy leaving. I typically have a pretty high tolerance for food service establishments as I use to manage one and had been in the industry for a long time but this was pretty bad since I was wanting to...

I very much like this place. Just the right type of offerings to satisfy your sweet and savory cravings. I love that the food is made onsite from pastries to breads. The staff has always been kind and welcoming, the dining room is nice but small, and they make an effort to keep it clean including the nice restrooms. The food has always been good and quick. This last time I took 3 cookies for home. They were delicious but slightly over baked and the aroma of not-quite-burned bottoms hit my nose when I started eating them. Still quite good, though, but I did notice another review that mentioned the same for a scone so that might be an area where the bakery needs to pay attention. Although, I personally would rather have slightly over baked rather than underdone cookie -- maybe. I love the idea of their rosemary biscuit but the one I had recently had no rosemary flavor at all. The coffee drinks are great and the northern lites herbal tea is delightful. I love that they use real mugs for dining in. Coffee and tea tastes so much better that way. Despite a few minor misses, I love this place, the ambience and the offerings. Prices are pretty reasonable. Parking in downtown Stillwater can sometimes be a bear, but make it into an outing or simply...

Just had the most unbelievable experience. Let me start with the fact that we’ve patronized this business since before they moved to Stillwater, and since they’ve opened we come in consistently, including supporting when we could during Covid when they had pop up sales.

Today we walked in, my kids’ were really looking forward to a cinnamon roll, we are at the bakery case (where we’ve always ordered) my kids are (not quietly) excited about the last cinnamon roll. A woman walks up to the register looks at us, and once we noticed the last cinnamon roll was being taken out of the case we kindly told the staff we had been waiting patiently for about 10 minutes, and the girl just walked up. The staff, in a very snotty tone said well she just bought it (while my 7 year old daughter is crying and not understanding why common rules and decency doesn’t apply to adults) And then apologized to the woman who clearly saw we were waiting and there first.

I get it, businesses run out, but what this is really about is treating the patrons of your business with common decency, which absolutely did not happen today. Because of how the staff handled the situation and treated my kids’ and I today, we absolutely will not be back, which is...

My cousin, Donna, told me (!) that we have to go to Mon Petite Cheri in Stillwater, Minnesota! Mon Petite Cheri had a nice choice of food, baked goods and pastries. We had a ham and cheese croque monsieur and a cheesy jalapeño roll. Both yummy. Cortado for each us rounded out a nice brunch. Mon Petite Cheri was busy and the staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Stillwater is a beautiful destination Village on the St. Croix river. It is a charming town with great food, fun atmosphere and antique and secondhand store shopping. Not necessarily what I personally want to do, but I know that my wife, Shari, would love it. The waterfront is ideal for strolling and viewing across the river to Wisconsin. The vertical lift bridge dates back about 95 years and is now a pedestrian walkway. The whole area is quite picturesque.

I have been here multiple times and had 2 very different experiences. The first time, there was little to no line, the staff were friendly, and the food came out fast. The last time I was there, I was with someone who had a peanut allergy. When they asked if anything was peanut free, the staff said “I think it is” and then did not double check with anyone and was very uncertain. They decided not to get anything, because the staff could not 100% confirm it was peanut free, which was a disappointment after waiting in line for 25 minutes. The food is good, but it would be nice to have more transparency about allergens in the food.
