The Outback Bar — Restaurant in Brisbane City

This is a gem of a place! Having moved to Brisbane from Sydney in 2017 I was worried that the choice of nice bars here in Brisbane would be limited. I have been proven wrong! Every time we have visitors from interstate I drag them here. I love the decor, I love the food, I love the wine. One our first visit here in September 2017 we ate the following: Salt and Pepper Squid (seriously tender. The best I've ever had) Steamed pork and prawn dumplings (melted in the mouth) Homemade chicken liver pate (oh yum yum) This place is so worth a visit.

Great venue, iconic position but no view really….of anything. Been here many years ago and decided for nostalgias sake to pop in for a meal. On the menu was a fancy sounding baked vegetable salad with chicken. It was so dry I couldn’t finish it. Crying out for a fresh yoghurt and mint dressing!!!! Even the chicken was dry and obviously not freshly made. The pumpkin was a tad too al dente. Also, if you’re just a couple don’t go there! Caters to crowds and larger groups of friends wanting to drink lots. We got shoved into a corner so far out of the way we felt like lepers.
