Kickin'Inn Perth CBD — Restaurant in Perth

I’m only giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 because of the gentleman who at least attempted to resolve our issues with our dining experience. Booked for 6pm 5 adults 4 kids, waited 45 mins for the first AYCE bag, no kids meals to be seen. In this time we asked multiple times where the kids meals were with little to no acknowledgement from the staff. After an hour and 20 minutes!!!!!! And after all adults ate in front of starving kids (2, 4year olds who didn’t want sea food so literally starved) their kids meals finally arrived. It took 2.5 hours to get the second bag of AYCE which is insane. I already assumed this was due to staffing issues or the amount of customers in the restaurant. I know your staff are human and I appreciate this. We also didn’t get the right things in our orders (3 bags missing octopus, got garlic butter instead of garlic Kajun….) when going to the counter to pay I asked for a manager to address our concerns of the night and was met with ‘I’ll talk to you about it’ from a female staff member. She proceed to say it was my fault that the kids meals weren’t made and she was the one to fix my mistakes - because I didn’t order them. Which I then told her that yes I did, I saw it on the receipt when given my first boil bag. This staff member continued to argue with me back and forth until I asked her to grab the receipts. She then showed me that I did order them and didn’t apologise or anything just asked another staff member to deal with me in which she would over step him and speak to him in a language I couldn’t understand whilst he was dealing with me. This gentleman did his best to resolve our complaint and listen to our concerns and said he would take it to upper management. I really to appreciate his attempts. But this female staff member will be the reason why we never return. I’ve never had such poor customer service in my life, especially after a $500...

What truly elevated the experience, however, was the interactive and fun way of eating. Tipping the bag onto the table and digging in with your hands (don't worry, they provide bibs and gloves!) is a unique and engaging experience that makes it perfect for sharing with friends or family. It's messy, it's exciting, and it's absolutely delicious.

Beyond the food, the service was top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food they were serving. Very disappointing experience to say the least. We had a booking for 2 people, arrived to have no table and had to wait for staff to jumble between each other and make up a table for us. We were seated and had a lovely server who explained the menu to us and what was most popular. We ordered our food and drinks and sat waiting for an hour before our drinks were served to us and continued to wait for another half an hour for our boil bag to arrive. It arrived and boy was it disastrous. We ordered the kickin inn classic bag which has - mud crab, prawns shelled and unshelled, mussells and potato and corn. We added on rice and 2 eggs. Firstly, they forgot the potato's and corn in our bag, we asked for original spice level to receive a very hot dish. The seafood was inedible it was SOOO overcooked it was like trying to eat rubber and their idea of a mud crab is bizarre as it's clearly a baby mud crab which was so dry with the amount of meat you could find and half of it was unable to be opened as you are given no utensils to crack the claws or legs. The eggs were so overcooked in the sauce and half of it sat there and went cold. I had to get up during our meal after realising our vegetables were missing to complain and was given our vegetables 10 mins later and their idea of a potato is a tiny baby potato that was smaller then a golf ball. Thankfully the staff were very apologetic about the meal and our experience when I expressed our concerns and after back and forth with staff members I was given 15% off our meal.
