The Riverside Cafe and Bar at Barrack Square is not just a place to eat; it's an experience that elevates dining to an art form. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an ambiance that feels both luxurious and welcoming, thanks in large part to its exceptional decor and seating.
Chairs and Decor - The chairs here are not merely functional; they are an integral part of the experience. They offer a blend of comfort and style, with ergonomic designs that make long conversations over coffee or dinner an absolute pleasure. The decor, with its modern nautical theme, perfectly complements the stunning views of the Swan River, making every visit feel like a special occasion. The combination of these elements truly sets this cafe apart, creating an atmosphere that's both vibrant and relaxing.
Culinary Highlights - Among the many delectable dishes on offer, the Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon stands out as the best on the western side of Barrack Square. The freshness of the ingredients, the perfectly balanced dressing, and the quality of the smoked salmon make this dish a must-try. It's a testament to the chef's skill, offering a taste that's both refreshing and indulgent.
More Than Just Food - What also caught my eye was the cafe's excellent selection of books. They have an eclectic mix, including fun reads like "Rickey's Believe It or Not" and the classic "Guinness Book of Records". It's a thoughtful touch that adds to the cafe's charm, perfect for those looking to spend a lazy afternoon by the river with a good book in hand.
In summary, the Riverside Cafe and Bar is a must-visit for anyone in Perth. The combination of its superb decor, comfortable seating, and culinary excellence, especially with signature dishes like the Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon, makes it a standout destination. The added bonus of a well-curated book selection just seals the deal. Five...
Read moreAt Riverside Cafe, we recently hosted a memorable birthday party for a friend, and our experience was truly exceptional. The owner thoughtfully arranged a long table in a charming enclosed area with partial river views and a serene jetty. We explored their entre and appetizer selection, and every dish left a lasting impression. The Vietnamese prawn salad, Barramundi, prawn pizza, chicken wings and cauliflower buffalo sauce bites were absolute standouts. The chilled mussels, served with generous slices of Turkish bread, were delightful.
The attention to detail was evident with our coffees, beautifully decorated with swan motifs, a nod to the elegant black swans on the Swan River. And let's not forget the red velvet cake; it was incredibly soft and satisfying.
The cocktail and mocktail offerings were exceptional, crafted with care and presented with style.
What truly made Riverside Bistro shine was their outstanding service. The staff graciously allowed us to personalize our area with balloons and banners, adding a special touch to our celebration. They even designated a space for birthday gifts and provided a big jar of refreshing tap water for our convenience.
Riverside Cafe also enjoys a convenient location right at the Cat Bus Blue bus stop, making it easy for us to catch a train home after our celebration.
The servers and waiting staff were polite, friendly, and always ready to assist us. They helped capture our special moments with photos and ensured our celebration went smoothly.
In conclusion, Riverside Bistro surpassed our expectations, making our celebration truly memorable. If you're in search of a great venue to host an event or enjoy a special day with a loved one, this is a highly recommended option. We give it a solid...
Read moreStarted off badly... got worse. For context I've been a chef, bar manager, etc. Worked in hospitality over 15 years. I ordered a steak sandwich and a cup of tea, English breakfast. The lady at the counter read it back to me, I paid and took my number for the table - all good. I didn't specify how the steak should be cooked so maybe my bad. After 10 mins it comes a cappuccino. I said, sorry i ordered a tea, English breakfast. The guy rolls his eyes and takes it back. The lady who took my order comes out and asks "didn't you order a cappuccino?" No, i said, I ordered a cup off tea, English breakfast. "Oh, sorry. I miss heard" she said - fair enough. My tea arrives, all good. Then the steak sandwich comes out, looks great...a whole steak between the bread!
I cut it in half and find the middle is raw, not medium, not medium rare, not even rare. I I'll try it, don't mind a rare steak. Couldn't eat it, was not good at all. I didn't want to make a fuss, as the chips were really good, thought when they come to check, I'll ask for it to be cooked a bit more / replaced (steak was also stringy). No one came to check (even tried to get their attention). Finished the chips and pushed my plate to one side. Guy came out to clear the plate away and asked "are you finished?" Looking at the entire steak sandwich on my plate "I'm sorry, but i can't eat that steak, it's raw and not good" I said. "OK" he said and took it away. I finished my tea to see if anyone would come out to say something. 20mins later I walk out.
Go for the chips, they were awesome. if you want steak sandwich / steak... don't be like me, ask for it to be cooked how you like it, or...
