Terrible Experience – Avoid the Baha Poolside Bar and Kitchen
Our stay at The Adnate over Christmas was completely soured by the Baha Poolside Bar and Kitchen. We had specifically confirmed well in advance that the bar and kitchen would be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but upon arrival, we were told they’d close after breakfast and not reopen until 5 PM. This was a blatant bait-and-switch and left us scrambling to adjust plans during what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday.
Breakfast on Christmas Day was a complete shambles. Shockingly, only TWO cooks were scheduled to serve the entire hotel and additional guests. Food trays were left empty for long periods, and trying to order any of the special egg dishes (like fried, poached, or Benedict) was next to impossible. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unprepared, with no proper system in place to handle the crowd.
We had booked their so-called private room to accommodate extra guests, which cost a ridiculous $300. For that price, you’d expect at least a clean and comfortable space. Instead, we were given a small, dingy room with stained carpets and chairs. There were no real benefits—just an overpriced, poorly maintained space that felt like an afterthought.
The pricing across the board is absurd. A pint of beer costs $17, and they charge $13 for a non-alcoholic Heineken. For context, a carton of these non-alcoholic beers costs $46 at retail, meaning they’re marking it up by over 350%. Cocktails were no better, with prices averaging $25 each—completely unjustifiable given the quality.
The crowning disaster of this experience was the manager. Without a doubt, she was the rudest, most unprofessional, and condescending person we’ve ever encountered in hospitality. She displayed zero interest in resolving issues, spoke down to guests, and made no effort to hide her disdain for complaints. Her dismissive attitude caused frustration not only for us but for other guests as well. Even the staff—who were clearly trying their best to mitigate the chaos—confided in us that she was the source of many of the problems. It’s astonishing that someone with such a hostile demeanor is in charge of guest relations.
To sum up, the Baha Poolside Bar and Kitchen is a poorly managed, overpriced nightmare. The lovely frontline staff are the only redeeming feature, but they’re fighting a losing battle under such incompetent leadership. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and outrageous costs—go...
Read moreWOW what a fantastic space - the decor is gorgeous and the venue is so light and airy - so welcoming. The girl who was attending our table was very pleasant and happily answered any questions that we had. Shame that the menu and food presentation did not match. Whoever has constructed this menu is surely taking a lend! The starters mainly consist of dips. If bread and dips are not your thing well there's not a lot else to choose from to share. In the end we went for a pizza which was probably a little under cooked as the crust was a little doughy but otherwise acceptable. The menu features a number of salads. Perfect for a warm Perth day (or so we thought). With any of the 'salads' you can add chicken, beef or smoked salmon. Our party of 3 all opted for the pumpkin salad 2 with chicken and 1 with smoked salmon. What was delivered was a plate that consisted of 3 pieces of HOT roast pumpkin that was smeared with a minuscule scraping of feta cheese and a few seeds along with a very unappetising piece of (hot) thigh chicken on two and (cold) smoked salmon on the third. The presentation was very ordinary. Now this begs the question "what constitutes a salad?" We did discuss this with our waitress but she couldn't answer and we did ask that she pass our comments onto the chef. After many conversations since our visit with various people (a chef) included - all said a salad should include something green. We were all of the opinion that a salad if it is going to be served warm/hot it should be listed as a 'warm salad'. A plate of one sort of vegetable does not a salad make!! VERY DISAPPOINTING. Now the chips - what a joke $12 for a small bowl of skinny chips but we thought hang the expense and ordered one anyway. Again the chips come with a selection of dressings - none of which we wanted so we ordered just plain old salted chips. What we got was salt and vinegar :( plus they were overcooked - they were a very dark shade of nearly burnt. Anyway we sent them back as they were not what we ordered and the replacement bowl came out with the comment that we were lucky as this was a freshly cooked batch! Needless to say we were very disappointed overall with the food experience. The wine list was ok and the usual Perth prices. Would we go back - for a drink yes - to eat a...
Read moreRecently we invited friends to have dinner with us at your establishment. On the day of the event we read the google reviews (notable all low) and thought this was just because it is new. Upon being seated my partner pointed at my drink and asked the staff if she could "have one of those too?" The waitress had no idea what I was drinking (frozen cocktail). We asked the same waitress what the Hyde Feast consisted of and she had a lot of trouble doing so. We then were greeted by another waiter who took our order of entre's we advised that we will order main's in due course. After 30 minutes our drinks arrived, and 45 mins later our food arrived (we actually were offered a lot of entre's as the staff kept getting the orders mixed up). We then asked the waiter if we could place our order for mains - we were then told the kitchen was closed. This was an 8:30 pm sitting, and the kitchen closed at 9:30 pm without any notice from the staff who we had informed earlier that we planned on placing the order for mains. We asked could we have a top up of our bottomless fries (we only had one serving which were cold anyway) alas as the kitchen was closed no can do - would not call this bottomless fries for those seated at 8:30 pm. There were so many errors that were riddled throughout the evening it made it seem more of a comical event rather than a restaurant. Please rather than spend money on a DJ get more staff and invest...
