Bella Vista Restaurant — Restaurant in Harrison Hot Springs

I came in solo and stood by the door for 2.5 mins before being acknowledged (the patio was full but inside was empty) before the lady behind the bar finally said “hi?” to me as though I inconvenienced here with my presence. I said that I was hoping to take the table outside to just have a quick beer, and her response was “ya” and then she went back to doing her thing. I waited another minute or so but decided to walk myself out to the table. Took 7 mins and 3 people walking past me multiple times before someone dropped a menu wordlessly on the table. Multiple servers also walked by my empty beer bottle on my table which struck me as bizarre as a former server and bartender (don’t leave empty glassware or dishes on a table!).

I also witnessed a server (who had an accent herself) being rude to a pair of customers who spoke perfect but accented English, as though she could not understand, and she just said “what?” to them when they asked for a lemonade and a Stella. I wouldn’t speak that way to a friend let alone a customer (as a server) and while I can’t articulately convey the attitude she had with them, the couple did look at me at me in disbelief.

I want to point out that there were at least 3 FOH staff and only 6 occupied tables (myself included) at the time, all in different stages of their meal, so if they overwhelmed, that is embarrassing.

Lovely location, can’t speak for the food, but...

I'll excuse the food. It was okay but wouldn't come in for breakfast again. The service can not be excused. We were served by a lady who couldn't be bothered. It took us 20 minutes to place our order. She didn't get the order right as she missed the extra toast, butter and jam we requested for our daughter. Midway through the meal when we requested it again she told us the toast with my meal was the extra one (that's fair, eggs bendict does not come with toast). But then when I asked her for the jam and butter, she went to the table next to us which had just been vacated 5 minutes ago by a couple and not yet cleaned, got a clean plate and took the butter and jam which had been served to them as part of their meal, and brought it to us. Yes, it was in a small container, not open jam and butter, but she literally just put it in a new plate and gave it to us! I was astounded and could not find words.

I gave customer service a 3, because we were also helped by a gentleman a couple of times who was very pleasant...

I ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl, with poutine on the side. The poke bowl was delicious and very fresh, presented in a colorful and artistic array in is bowl. The poutine had only a moderate amount of gravy and cheese, but that was perfect because it led to a great balance of flavor and didn't result in a heavy dish that left you feeling overly full.

As for the atmosphere, the patio provides a wonderful open air atmosphere overlooking the lake, and it is dog friendly, so we were able to have all members of the family there at dinner. On top of that, our server was extremely attentive and friendly; he not only delivered our food quickly and professionally, but was also happy to tell us about the town when we asked. I would definitely eat here again when I visit...
