Never have I ever felt parent shame as I did walking into this restaurant. Apparently there is a sign on the door saying, "no strollers allowed." I didn't see this since I've never Ever seen that before so I didn't think twice. We've been walking Harrison hotsprings all day and wanted to finish our day with some ice cream before heading home, there was only one other customer in the restaurant seated at the time. I was almost ready to choose the ice cream so we could walk around a bit longer before heading home and someone comes running out of the backroom and tells me to leave the stroller outside because they are not allowed. Since when? then tells me the reason is safety. Apparently having a baby stroller is dangerous but someone with a wheel chair is safer. We have a smaller stroller for this reason so we don't bash into thing bur what gets me is we were literally just in a tight gift shop full of breakables and the lady never once made us feel unwelcome or shamed for having our stroller in the store like these people did! The restaurant was empty. No one other then 1 customer was sitting down and we were only going to grab ice cream and leave. Plus the space was far big enough to accommodate a stroller considering it was big enough to accommodate someone with a wheelchair. At that exact moment I was so confused and then 5 customers barged in butted I front of me to see the flavors of the ice cream. I was double shocked for one not being able to have my kid in his stroller and then the bidging customers and Then the restaurant ppl had the Gul to rush me to order the flavors of ice cream... I went somewhere else. Terrible terrible experience all around. This place used to be so much better, guess it's under new...
Read moreWe came in after dinner for ice cream. I have been here dozens of times over the years for some handmade fudge or a quick coffee or maybe an ice cream cone. However, this time, the woman was rather short with us and the portions were tiny.
20$ for 2 ice creams which were Island Farms and double the price as the handmade Gelato around or the island farms next door. I had a single scoop and my husband had a double but the problem was they were only half a scoop. Like it was a hollow scoop and then flattened off. Like it was smaller than a child size and baskin robbins. The fudge has doubled in price (i guess things have gone up whihc is fair) but we could have got the same ice cream next door for half the price and would have been double the size. My flavor also had ice crystals all throughout the fruit swirl which wasnt enjoyable.
There is another place nearby too ("Picnic") that has REAL fruit homemade ice cream. Its kind of like an industrial size "Yonanas" machine lol. They also have take home tubs of real ice cream for 10$. Or, go to one of the Gelato places nearby for a nice smooth flavor bursting treat!
The worst part is the lady working. We came in behind someone who was also getting ice cream and she scooped his, walked away to ring him up and then ignored us. After a few minutes she said "so want some now too?". Idk it was like we were annoying her or something it was just weird. We are super polite and friendly so its unwarranted. Even after paying and tipping we didnt get a thank you or a youre welcome or even a "you too" to our have a nice night. There are too many nicer places I...
Read moreMy family and I (2 kids age 4 & 7 and husband) were walking around, looking for a place to grab dinner in Harrison and it was getting close to 8pm. We stumbled upon this café. I asked if they were still open and the lady replied yes. Even thought I realized after they were 10min away from closing they still took our food order and asked us if we wanted to stay to eat. We had planned to eat by the beach anyways so we declined but I did think it was very nice of them to give us this option. The food was actually very good. I had the veggie stir-fry and thought it was amazing. My husband had the club sandwich and definitely enjoyed it and the kids had tuna sandwiches and absolutely loved them. It was so nice to find a place to grab a quick bite that serves good, relatively healthy food. We will definitely be back every time we are in Harrison. I read a lot of the reviews and was so surprised to see some of of these negative reviews as that was not our...
