The view is fantastic, and we were able to see the falls, US fireworks, and CAN fireworks on July 04 when we visited!
That is the end of the good news.
Our reservation was for 8:00 and we were sat at 7:55 at a table next to a server station. Our server came over and took our drink order: a bottle of wine and two shirley temples for our kids
the bottle of wine had no vintage on the label which was strange (it was Antica Vigna Amarone), and the shirley temples were just 7up and a dash of grenadine. That is more of a classic recipe, which is fine, but for $16.00 each you would expect it to have a bit of orange juice in it right?
The appetizers arrived at 8:50 - which is 55 minutes after we sat down, and 45 minutes after we ordered. It was a salad and a soup, so the kitchen must have been very busy. The bread we were told was coming never arrived, which would have helped to tide over the kids.
The entrees arrived at 9:30 - which was 95 minutes after we sat down, and 85 minutes after we ordered. My steak was a Prime Bone in Ribeye ordered medium so the fat cooks in a bit - it was nearly well done. It likely sat under the heat lamp for a while. My wife order the filet and lobster - the lobster seemed like it had been taken right out of the steamer and placed on the plate (resulting in lobster juices being all over the plate). Which is also not normally a big deal, but the filet was sitting in these juices. This made the filet taste a bit strange, and it was also well done.
We let the server know and she offered to bring a new ribeye - I said sure but please cook it to medium rare, which will help with how long it will take (I was literally starving at this point).
The manager McKenzie (?) stopped by to apologize for the overcooked steak and offered us dessert, which was nice. She asked if everything else was ok, and I just said yes - my fault, I am really not a complainer but should have mentioned how long the food took.
She brought out the steak and I cut into it - it was medium well but I just said it was fine. Typically when a steak is rushed out it doesnt have time to sit and have the juices seep out, so my plate was a complete puddle. The ribeye also had no fat cap, so it was all medallion. Pretty terrible cut for $130CAD.
The dessert order and arrival took another 45 minutes, which makes me question my sanity as to why I ordered it in the first place.
My wife had one bite of her steak, I had one bite of mine, but at least our two kids crushed the 5oz lobster tail.
I get that Niagara Falls is a bit of a tourist trap, so I expect to pay a premium, but for $590 pre-tip I certainly expected better.
If you have a chance to go there as a couple and sit right by the window I am sure it would be a lovely experience. However for a family of four with two young kids it...

I made a reservation at Morton’s Steakhouse in Niagara Falls, Ontario a month in advance for my wife’s birthday. During booking, I spoke with multiple hostesses and made it clear that it was a special occasion. I requested a window table and was informed there would be a $15 per person “premium seating” charge, which I was happy to pay. I was also told that window tables were first come, first serve if available upon arrival.
To guarantee the premium seating, I was instructed to book through OpenTable. I did so and paid for the premium option. However, upon arrival, the hostess claimed there was no record of any OpenTable booking and that I would need to book it again online to secure the window seat. Despite at least ten window tables sitting empty, we were told they could not seat us there unless we paid again through the app — and that they could not process the payment in person. Since the app wouldn’t allow me to rebook on the spot, we were seated at a regular table.
Adding to the disappointment, not a single staff member acknowledged that it was my wife’s birthday — despite me clearly stating this multiple times when making the reservation. Why ask if you’re not going to recognize it? For a restaurant of this caliber, such an oversight feels careless and impersonal.
We ordered the prix fixe menu for two. The food was mediocre at best — certainly not what I’d expect from a restaurant charging nearly $150 per person. Service began well, but ended on a sour note. Our server, Mario, brought the bill while we were still enjoying our bottle of wine. I noticed an 8% “L.F.” (Local Fee) added to the bill, and when I asked what it was, he explained it was a surcharge for non-locals that could be removed upon request. As a local, I asked him to remove it, which he did.
After paying and tipping, my wife and I stayed a while longer to finish our wine. That’s when things took a turn. Mario began aggressively clearing our table, knocking over the salt and pepper shakers, slamming items down, and muttering under his breath as he passed. He glared at us several times and threw items like the billfold onto the nearby service stand. His behavior was rude, unprofessional, and frankly uncomfortable.
I’m not sure if this was due to the removed fee, the tip, or something else entirely, but it was unacceptable. This kind of conduct, especially at a high-end establishment, is inexcusable.
For the prices Morton’s charges, the experience should far exceed that of The Keg — yet the quality, food, and hospitality were noticeably inferior. Overall, our evening was a disappointment and not at all the special birthday celebration I...
Read moreWe requested a table with a Fallsview which many of them have but the ones by the window were only good for 2 to 3 people and I understand that. We tried to select a booth that was two rows back from the window and of all that evening the restaurant was never more than half full. It was a bit of a battle for the server to give up the empty booth, and she insisted that we go back to the desk with her while she investigates. This occurred for all four of us a couple of times before we finally got seated. Our waiter came over and introduced himself and started to upsell the menu, which I also understand. Throughout the evening our male waiter was mildly arrogant and mildly condescending which made for an uncomfortable evening. As an example, he was trying to convince us that the $205 dinner for two was a great value but we should upgrade the wine that is served with it because it is inferior as a matter of fact he said we call it Jackson Trash not Jackson Triggs. The couple who are friends, and were eating with us, decided to take that option with the upgraded wine and the up charge cost. My wife and I are not big eaters and therefore we requested the premium black Angus beef, New York strip with a baked potato and an appetizer of oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were good but small and there was only four of them for $30. The New York strip was cooked medium rare as requested but the steak was thin and had way too much gristle as it was not trimmed properly. It was a piece of beef that I would’ve been upset with if I bought it on sale at the grocery store. Baked potato was large but for $20 it was advertised to come with sour cream, bacon, and chives, but there was no chives available. When we were presented with the bill I noticed that we were not charged for the premium black Angus New York strip but were charged $120 for the Morton’s Midwest prime beef signature prime New York strip which was anything but. Our server was walking around and talking to other staff members and ignoring us for about 10 minutes before the bill finally arrived. Our bill for four small oyster Rockefeller, one marginal steak and one baked potato with tax and tip came to $330. Our friends bill came to $450. All four of us found the server to be arrogant and rude and the whole experience to be one of the worst we’ve had in a restaurant...
