I recently dined at Shoeless Joe's, a place I had frequented multiple times before. However, my most recent visit left much to be desired in terms of service and overall quality.
Upon entering the restaurant, my party and I followed the instructions to wait to be seated. Unfortunately, we waited for a considerable 10 minutes without any acknowledgment or assistance. Eventually, a staff member arrived, and we expressed our frustration about the wait. She assured us that we would receive good service from that point forward.
After being seated, we encountered another setback as no one attended to us for a prolonged period of 20 minutes. Additionally, we were not provided with utensils or napkins, which further added to our disappointment.
Finally, the manager came to take our order, informing us that one of the dishes would take approximately 20 minutes longer to prepare. In an effort to expedite the process, we agreed to change one of our selections to a pasta dish, assuming it would be a simpler and quicker alternative. Regrettably, our patience was tested again when 45 minutes passed, and we still hadn't received our food or the necessary utensils.
Feeling compelled to address the issue, we flagged down a waitress to inform her of the prolonged wait and the missing utensils. Eventually, our food arrived, but it fell far short of our expectations. The chicken strips were overcooked and charred, the fries were cold, and the pasta was poorly prepared and clumped together. It was evident that the quality had suffered greatly.
We immediately brought our concerns to the manager, who apologized and offered to void the meal. She also insisted that we try a salad as a gesture of goodwill. At this point, it was quite late, and we had already wasted an hour and a half without having a satisfactory meal. Despite our reservations, we reluctantly agreed to try the salad, hoping for some sort of compensation or resolution.
To our dismay, when the bill arrived, we discovered that the manager had not followed through with her promise to void the charges. We were charged for the entire meal, despite the significant inconvenience and dissatisfaction we had experienced. This final act of charging us for an unsatisfactory dining experience only added to our disappointment and frustration.
In summary, my experience at Shoeless Joe's was marked by extensive waiting times, poor service, subpar food quality, and a lack of accountability from the manager. Spending three and a half hours in the restaurant, still paying $60, and not receiving a proper meal was deeply unsatisfactory. We were literally there from 10:30PM to 1:00 AM... We did not even intend on being out that late. This ruined everything.
I feel compelled to caution others against visiting Shoeless Joe's based on this experience. The lack of professionalism and the failure to prioritize customer satisfaction throughout our visit left a lasting...
Read moreWent there on Friday night at 9.30 pm. Waited 20 minutes to be seated. Server was really nice, came and took our order and I saw her make notes diligently. Our order took 50 min. The server came a few times to update us that the order is on its way. Unfortunately no estimate wait time was given. I was getting hungry and frustrated and wanted to walk out. But decided against it. We ordered fish and chips asking for the fries to be substituted by sweet potato fries, Joe's smashed burger ( with special house sauce) no tomatoes and a shrimp glass noodle bowl. 2 out of the 3 orders were incorrect. We got regular fries not sweet potato. We got tomatoes in our burger and no house sauce. No sauce and Just a plain burger with plain bread. The shrimp noodle bowl was below average. The shrimp was fried in flour with absolutely no flavor. The server looked surprised that our order wasn't right, apologized and offered to get another burger. After waiting 50 min we didn't want to wait endlessly so we said forget it. I blame the chef inside who obviously doesn't know how to make basic dishes. How can you forget sauce in a burger ??? The server does not have to take the fall for Bad management and a Bad chef ! I see reviews from the owner saying they are in business for 30 yrs. It is shameful that after 30 years they cannot provide basic items on the menu in a timely manner. You would have thought that the management would have perfected that by now. And another thing I hate about all Niagara restaurants is the tourist tax they add on to every bill. I mean how ridiculous is that. And for everyone out there, make sure you check your bill and only pay HST. All additional taxes are optional which nobody advertises sneakily. And if you ask the management to waive it off they do it easily. Shameless and greedy is what I call all the businesses in Niagara !! Stay away from this location. Bad Bad...
Read moreCame here around 5 pm on Monday with my girlfriend to grab dinner and drinks. As regular customers of this company we were excited dine in and eat some of our favourite dishes again. The restaurant was practically empty as we were the only patio table and the dining room area had 2-3 tables inside. Our server approached us asking for our drink orders but then proceeded to walk away before we had fully finished speaking/asking questions. This occurred on several occasions throughout our experience. Not only did we feel he was being rude for rushing us, we couldn’t understand why since there wasn’t much going on. We ordered a blue line and a berry basil gimlet for drinks, requesting the blue line be extra sour. The drink came out super sweet and as a bartender herself. My girlfriend knew based on the colour and sweetness, they went heavy with the blue caracao. Sent it back to the bar to be fixed and had it returned better but then our server gave us dirty side plates so we sent those back too. Our entrees came out and they were a nightmare. I order the crispy shrimp noodle bowl but I got a bowl of soup. My noodles were so soggy the water that drained from them diluted my dish and they were practically swimming in the plate. My girlfriend ordered the CAB steak frites rare and the steak was cooked to medium at the CORE and the cut of meat looked disgusting. We didn’t eat our meal. Had the food sent back and the manager to come by with the bill. Thankfully, the manager was very apologetic, comp’d both our entrees and discounted our appetizer. Overall wouldn’t reccomend this particular Shoeless location. Not only was the food terrible but so was the service. Take your money...
