One of the WORST Experiences, Avo & Co is a Complete Disaster 🙅🏼♀️❌⚠️
If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I made the huge mistake of trying Avo & Co for breakfast and ended up with brutal food poisoning from their Avocado and Egg toast. The egg was barely cooked, practically raw and unfortunately, it was the only thing we ate all day, so there’s no doubt it was the culprit. Our second mistake was not checking the order before leaving. We ate it, and within hours, we were both sick and nearly ended up in the ER. It completely ruined our day and heaths!
To make matters worse, the place was clearly understaffed. It was being run by just one overwhelmed woman, the same Asian lady taking orders at the register was also cooking and serving. She wasn’t wearing gloves, wasn’t following any visible food safety practices, and repeatedly wiped her hands on her apron instead of washing them. Disturbing!
While we waited, we weren’t the only ones noticing the chaos. Other customers were growing visibly frustrated, impatiently watching her juggle everything alone. Now, I’m not a difficult customer, I get that things happen and staff may call in sick, but at least give customers a heads-up or limit orders, instead of risking people’s health. The whole vibe was rushed, unsanitary, and poorly managed. I wish I could go back in time and walk out of this place before placing my order!
I visit this area often, but I will NEVER return to Avo & Co, and I’ll be warning everyone I know to steer clear. This was health hazard I don’t want anyone else to...
Read moreMy very good friend and I love going to different local restaurants or restaurants in different cities.
On April 12th, we decided to have lunch at Avo&Co.
We love this place. Decor is bright, cheerful, and summery. Comfortable seating, Good selection of power bowls, salads, smoothie bowls, toasties, coffee, non alcoholic beverages.
This little gem is family owned. The day we went one of the owners was there. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name. She was so sweet, personable, she told us about the restaurant, when it opened, about the decor, her family and about the food. This place was opened about 2 years ago.
My friend and I decided on the Power Bowl, a very delicious, colourful assortment of cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, slices of avocado, dried cranberries, edamame, quinoa, cilantro, with a yummy sesame dressing on the side.
This quaint place is a must try, whether you takeout to have a picnic in the parks around NOTL, or takeout to sit on a bench enjoying the beautiful weather and people watch.
DEFINITELY...
Read moreFood was nice, especially the Asian and Summer salads, but the service was extremely slow. I know they are making the dishes fresh to order and did not expect them to be ready immediately, but 30 minutes for 3 salads and an extra 15 minutes for a pokebowl is too long to wait for a takeout meal. I would be more understanding if it was very busy or if they were understaffed, but it did not seem very busy (only one order ahead of us in the line), and there were three people working. I was surprised to not see this mentioned in the other reviews, so perhaps it is not...
