Unfortunately we have been given no choice but to give this rating which is a real shame. Avoid at all costs. Only reason i gave more than 1 star is because know the challenges black owned businesses have to go through in order to succeed and there is always room for improvement.
Price: any reasonable restaurant bases their prices based on the meals they are offering, and not on an itemised basis. I ordered a basic jollof rice with plain chicken and plantain. My partner ordered jollof with peppered goat, with 1 soft drink each. He wanted to order his own plantain but i stopped him & told him to share mine as I had already done calculations. Every item had its own price. Pricing is unreasonably astronomical. Let me provide a perspective, Indian cuisine for 2 last night came to just under 800kc for 2 meals and 2 drinks. Vietnamese cuisine for 2 night prior came to just over 700kc for 2 meals, a side, and 2 drinks. So how can the same 2 meals and 2 drinks in an average West African restaurant in the exact same vacinity as everyone else cost DOUBLE- over 1400kc? You do the maths. We were just too polite to not get up and leave immediately when we had seen the unreasonable pricing.
Time: Im no stranger to dining out and consider the fact that its saturday night. However us, 1 other table, and 1 individual paying & already leaving were present prior to our food arriving- just to again provide perspective. How can it possibly take 30 minutes for us to get our drinks, followed by an additional almost 30 minutes for our food to actually arrive.
Atmosphere: (Obvioudly our first time) when walking in, was told we can sit anywhere. When asking if we can sit upstairs we were told to go up and have a look for ourselves. Customer service throught duration of stay was okay, however we could see the waitress was doing the best she cook as she was the only one serving while colleague stayed behindcounter, in kitchen, and answering phone. If you want to run a smooth service on a saturday night you may want more staff around to ensure not only tasks are being carried out, but doing extras like making sure customers are satisfied other than just being served their food. Atmosphere may have been lifted if there was some music playing. However all that could be heard were the voices of other loud customers. Womens toilet appeared to be leaking quite badly , therefore made the decision to wait until we arrived back at our hotel. Sad to say, but this restaurant appears to be the only African /black owned restaurant in prague. It will not succeed if it continues this way. They bank on taking your money through high itemised pricing with poor/lack there of/broken facilities, without a care in the world whether you come back or not. Longevity does not exist here. We wont...
Read moreI visited this restaurant during my holiday in Prague and without going into too much detail about my experience here, I’ll just leave a few points / areas of improvement for the business owner
Portion size - This concerns the Nigerian soups. It’s impossible to put all your customers in one box and think that a small portion of soup would be adequate for everyone. If in doubt, have prices for small, medium and large portions and let the customers choose. The portion of ofe Nsala soup sold to us is unacceptable. Also, this soup was filled with coco yam or (whatever thickener was used) and bones. Authentic nsala soup should have a light to slightly thick consistency and assorted varieties . Attaching photos of the soup for evidence.
Poor presentation - The poundo was poorly made. It wasn’t fluffy but strong and looked stale. I want to believe that the main cook was unavailable because the poundo looked better the previous time. The presentation was piss poor. See picture for evidence. The catfish was better, however it was too dry. It felt like eating dry fish instead of grilled fish.
Bad customer service - The business owner was unable to take feedback properly even after we registered our complaints. He was very defensive, raising his voice and was unwilling to listen to us. This left a very sour taste in our mouths.
Lack of efficiency & professionalism (1)- We placed a call to the restaurant 2 HOURS before our visit. We placed our order and the owner told us to call again 20 mins before we come in for dinner which we did. We got there and still had to wait for close to an hour to get served. The bad food made us even more angry because we waited in vain.
Lack of efficiency & professionalism (2) - The business owner claims to have been in business for decades but doesn’t have an electronic cash register or billing machine. It was surprising to see anyone calculate a bill with a sheet of pepper and pen in 2024.
Lack of efficiency & professionalism (3)- I understand that this is a family run business but what makes a business grow is being efficient. It’s impossible to be the cook and the waiter at the same time. Kindly employ other people to handle these things while you focus on the strategic parts of the business.
Lack of transparency- Throughout my stay in Prague, I made use of POS machines in different restaurants, supermarkets, museums etc and we were never asked to pay a charge for using the POS. At this restaurant we were charged 50 czk (2€) for making POS payments and the conversion rates were high!
I hope the business owner uses this feedback to do better. I definitely won’t be visiting again if I ever return to Prague. All the...
Read moreThis restaurant is the WORST. !!!!! Imagine being a regular customer for about a year and after placing my order I got a very rude and random call from them having the audacity to attempt to force me to agree to some ridiculous terms regarding my order. Many people have shared similar rude and unbelievable feedback about this restaurant. I finally have my own unfortunate experience to learn from! This will be my very last time ordering or having any business or association with this restaurant. I will make sure to share this feedback with all my friends, all over social media as well as in our community WhatsApp group chats. Wolt unfortunately will also stand to lose business because of the highly unprofessional way this restaurant operates!!!!! Bye bye … Any future customers should Beware and stay away!! Food is totally OVERPRICED and they constantly try to cheat you by selling you overpriced goat meat that mainly consists of just bones! In terms of taste the food itself is not even anything to write home about. They are simply enjoying the benefits of a monopolistic market when it comes to finding good African food/ restaurants to...
