Got very disappointed with the service. The lady at the reception is extremely rude. Although the food is good, I definitely will not recommend this place to anyone. We came just after they open in the morning so there’s pretty much no one. The waiter didn’t ask whether we need water or not but I’m not totally crossed with that. We ordered our coffee and started looking at the food menu. Not long after we’d decided on the food, no one come to our desk to take our order. So we wave at waiters who are all standing at the bar, chatting. No one pays any attention. Well, I’m not fussed about this as well. Finally after maybe waving for 3 minutes, the girl at the reception saw and come to us. Without asking what we want, she just said, we don’t suppose to wave at waiter as this is rude, with her fake smile on her face. And left as if we’ve done something terrible wrong. Of course we have to wait another 5-10 minutes before the waiter servicing our desk finally come to take our order. I did get offended by the lady but I thought this is some cultural thing in Czech, and I respect that. So no waving. After we order the meal, no waiter come to us to ask if we need anything. Don’t forget we don’t even have any water on our table. When we finished and wanted to pay for bill, no surprise that we can’t because we CANNOT WAVE AND NO ONE COME TO US! I got a bit pissed and went to the girl at the reception to ask for a bill. AGAIN without asking me anything NOR letting me say anything, she just said go back to you seat, you don’t suppose to come to the waiter. I insisted to ask for a bill, but she said nothing except for keep saying go back to your seat. This meal is the first one I had in Czech and I’m extremely disappointed with the service standard here. For all the countries I’ve travelled around the world, this counted towards the top 3 worst experiences. I respect different countries got difference culture. But I thing respect should be coming from the other side as well. P.S. I haven’t notice any rule such as no waving towards waiter at other...
Read moreThe hostess is a racist to Asians! No Asian should come here trust me! (my previous review got filtered by Google so I'm posting another one with no foul languages) We were waiting outside at the door as there is a sign said you should wait to be seated, then a waiter asked us party of how many, we said table for 2, as the restaurant is pretty empty (Sunday lunch hour so you can do the math yourself), he gestured and mumbled that we can sit anywhere we want to. After we sat down, another waiter came asking us "are you ready", but there is no menu for us, I asked him can you give me a menu, he walked away impatiently, soon the hostess showed up with menus, she said "English or Czech? Cause there is a sign outside said you should WAIT!" with condescending attitude. I explained yes I saw the sign but one of your staffs told us to come in and sit anywhere we want to, she totally ignored me and keep going with "there is a sign outside" blah blah blah, (not like her English is good though) I told her again one of the waiters told us to sit down! She rolled her eyes at us and said fine then walked away. She thinks just because I'm a yellow skin so I'm stupid? so I'm illiterate? She is WRONG! I won't be intimidated by racist! We left immediately. The worst experience in Prague during my 10-day trip, maybe they should make a sign "White People Only". Thank you Cafe~Cafe for showing us the hospitality of...
Read moreIn the interest of transparency, I came into this place to use the toilet when I was walking around town. But as a result, I ended up having the best dessert during my time in Prague!
After a morning of coffee drinking, shopping, and wandering around, I found myself in need of a toilet. I normally order something small just to be polite, so I started with a simple tea... but as I walked by the cake display, I couldn't resist. They all looked fantastic! My sweet tooth won and we both ordered a slice of cake to accompany our teas.
The beze dort was amazing! So fluffy, smooth, flavourful, crispy... everything a merengue cake should be. It was definitely the winner of the two. The fruit marizpan cake was fresh and bright as well, except the marzipan was too thick and too overwhelming. It also made it difficult to cut through. You seriously have to really, really love marzipan to eat the entire thing.
The staff was also attentive and friendly, and made the experience quite positive. The ambience was okay, and the decor is simple yet classy.
And, yes, the toilets are clean and comfortable.
Absolutely a place to come to try Czech cakes. And the food ordered by people around us actually looked...
