“Great value, friendly staff, authentic simple food”
Kyvadlo was recommended by our hotel. It was the first place we ate and we hasn't yet exchanged CHK. We chose the plate for two. We were told it was authentic pub fare. For pub food it was completely acceptable, humble food. Nothing to look at, but we felt the flavours were decent enough albeit the meats dry without gravy (which was provided). The plate, dessert, two beers ended up costing around 660 (with compulsory 10% service charge - which is fairly common). After conversion into my own currency, it ended up being a complete bargain. The staff member who served us took time to explain each menu item in English with a genuine smile. We left feeling we had decent food for a decent price.
The next day trying simple street food showed how decent the prices at Kyvadlo were. Two sausages, bread and pork cost the same from a vendor - no beer, no dessert, no smile.
Really unsure why some reviews have said prices...
Read moreStaff was rude, food underwhelming. My friend asked for wifi password and the waiter told him that he should enjoy his food first and ridiculed him for needing to have wifi. Then after some while he came to our table just to tell us (in czech) that one of our friends talks annoyingly loud - mind you, the friend was japanese so when he came to tell us that she's loud, he basically did so just because he thought she wouldn't understand him. I don't know if it was supposed to be a joke or if he was actually annoyed by it. Both ways came off incredibly rude. We were a rather large group and stayed for a while, so it's not like we weren't "valuable" customers. What is more, we had 3 tourists with us and were even planning on coming back, because the pub has a lot of traditional meals (turned out to be rather underwhelming and overpriced). Did not tip, won't ever come back. Too expensive for meals that tasted like out of...
Read moreThe meal started with the anticipation of a classic Caesar salad. However, to my dismay, the Caesar salad that was served was far from what I had expected. The dish lacked flavor and freshness, leaving me quite disappointed.
Furthermore, the incident with the waiter added to my disappointment. When settling the bill, the waiter attempted to overcharge us by misinforming us about the exchange rate, claiming that 517 crowns were equivalent to 27 euros (and service of 10% was already included). Such behavior is unacceptable and leaves a negative impression on the establishment’s credibility and customer service.
While I understand that dining experiences can vary, I expected more from this restaurant. The combination of a lackluster meal and the unfortunate attempt to overcharge has left me hesitant to recommend this...
