Magická sova — Restaurant in Prague

Well. That was the most unpleasant experience. We wanted to celebrate the first week of school. My daughter is a big Harry Potter fan, so I googled “Harry Potter café in Prague” and found this place. She was excited — the entrance has decorations, there’s a spiral staircase leading down, and everything promised a magical experience for a fan of the universe.

And then we go downstairs. The staff greets us and immediately asks how old my daughter is. I say — nine. The waiter then drops something that still makes my brain short-circuit: “We only allow children from 12 years old.”

Setting an age limit in a Harry Potter–themed café is peak cringe. I think the owners should also consider opening a Teletubbies-themed café and not let anyone under 21 in. Naturally, my daughter burst into tears. So thank you for ruining the celebration, for zero adequate communication, and for one of the dumbest concepts imaginable 👌

But! Just a 15-minute walk away in Vinohrady we found an absolutely wonderful Harry Potter–style café — CukrCafé Blackulus. And guess what? They actually allow children! The day was saved. As for this place… we send our most sincere...

I have never left a 1-star review in my life, but this deserves one. I was here at the grand opening. Cool concept, had a good time. A week later my friends and I (party of 6) are excited to go and walk in a little after 4pm. Place is empty and we're told there is a reservation later. Can't stay for a couple drinks. That's fine, it is what it is.

Then one of my friends just tries to walk into the bar to see the Harry Potter decorations and the man working there (I hope not the owner or manager) chases after her, telling her she can not even go look around (again, there are only two people sitting in the back). The entire experience was cold, rude, and frankly, an experience unlike any I've ever had during my 5 years in Prague (and not in a good way).

I understand if there is a reservation, but the way we were treated was rude, cold and definitely completely soured us on...

The place is cool, with lots of Harry Potter related stuff, and you can borrow vests and hats of the Houses while you are there. BUT on the menu it's written that you can pay by card only above 500ckz. We told the waitress that we didn't have any cash but that we weren't going to reach the 500ckz. She said that was going to ask her collegue about it, and than proceeded to say nothing back to us, bringing us what we ordered. We asked again and we got a very vague answer. When we finished our drinks she came back saying that we couldn't pay by card, but that with just two more drinks we were going to reach the 500ckz. We said we didn't want anymore drinks, and she insisted but we didn't accept. At the register they told us they were going to make an exeption.
