Sushi Tamda — Restaurant in Prague

Let's first start with the "NOT": Please do not expect any super experience, please do not expect any special treatment you probably saw in some YouTube videos about this type of cuisine, please do not expect anything Japanese...

What you can expect is a perfectly clean and nice Vietnamese restaurant. They have really good and decent drinks and from the complexity of the menu you can see they tried to mix expectations of tourists and fans of Japane with the ones of local Czech people living around. The area is really nice for walks, to have glass of wine or a cup of coffee, food which is not heavy...

You probably expected this review will be about sushi but you cannot really like this place if you go there for a "sushi experience" only. No, this is not just about liking but about understanding as well. Look, as a daily menu they have even pho bo or tempura salmon with fries (if you really want) so it is not a typical sushi place. The quality of the sushi is slightly above average - I would say - but the prices in this restaurant are amazing and they know how to make for example unagi nigiri sushi. I like it but I like other sushi places more because the other places focus on sushi only...

So please, if you expect an amazing sushi experience, Japanese culture and I do not know what, please do not go there. If you wish to have a nice lunch/dinner experience, pleasant people brigining you the order and nice surroundings, please go there because then you will maybe understand why this place is so loved by locals and maybe even you start to go there...

As soon as we walked in, the waitress greeted us with a big smile and some serious enthusiasm. It's a Vietnamese joint, so of course, they have a good selection of Vietnamese dishes, but they also offer some pretty tasty sushi rolls that won't break the bank. If you're looking for a decent sushi set to satisfy your sushi cravings for cheap, then this is the spot. Pro tip: go for a set that doesn't have much crab meat unless you're a crab fiend. Don't forget to try the summer or spring rolls while you're at it. They're delicious! Despite inflation, they've kept the prices reasonable, so it's no surprise that there's always a good crowd in there. Waiting times can get a little long, especially during peak hours, but it's not too bad. Plus, it's conveniently located near the tram or metro stations, so skip the parking drama and take public transportation. Now, it's not the place for sushi snobs or those looking for authentic Japanese cuisine, but if you value quantity and affordability, then this is your joint. We chose to go to this restaurant based on all the great reviews giving it 4-5 stars and saying it's one of the best sushi places in Prague. Maybe I'm spoiled by an amazing sushi I used to have in Vancouver all the time, or maybe people here don't know what sushi is at all, or both... but this is not a good sushi. I can barely call it sushi at all, honestly. Their chief doesn't even know how to make rice for sushi, it was wet and mushy. The amount of rice they put into sushi is enormous, and the rest is just cucumbers, avocado and cheap fish, in different combinations no matter what you chose to eat. It's not tasty, cheap and bad sushi... not even close to what you can get in really good sushi places. I don't even start with the rest of the service - no green...
