Love love love the chicken here! Everything is so tasty, including the excellent sauces, that this could become a habit. The first visit we made a reservation, which it turns out wasn't necessary. This seems to be more of a take-out kinda place, even though the bistro seating was great and comfortable and the service was also fantastic. They have different levels of taste and spicyness so that the food can appeal to a kiddo who considers pepper far too spicy for human consumption to someone who relishes a cacophony of flavors dancing in their mouth to create a broad range of tastes and levels of heat and everything inbetween. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
Edited to add: the takeaway experience leaves a lot to be desired. While the crazy practice of paying for boxes for to-go orders in Prague is the norm, and I've come to accept it over the years, the prices charged at Kohoutek and their online ordering rules are completely insane. We had an order for four people to takeaway to eat at home. Three small burger-sized boxes, one larger box, and a few paper bags. For some reason the order was split into two large paper bags that were half empty--it would have fit into one bag. And on the website when ordering, you're required to order at least one utensil set, at a cost of 5 Kc each. Altogether it was 85Kc. Really, really disappointing. And then immediately after presenting the cost of the full meal, the system has the gall to ask about a tip! What are we, in the US? This isn't how tipping works here, and it just made the incredibly overpriced packaging experience even worse that now I'm being asked, by default, to pay a 10% tip on packaging (and the rest of the meal of course).
I'll probably be back, but never...
Read moreI don’t know where to start to describe how amazing is this place. Starting from the cuisine when you enter the place you can already start dreaming with the delicious smell. The speciality is the cockerel cooked in different ways, we tried basically all of them and they are terrific, simply perfect: cooked perfectly, amazing taste not to mention their homemade sauces all excellent. I don’t know which cockerel I would recommend cause they were all exquisite, I enjoyed a lot the glazed one. We took also the mix grill where there was picanha, pork ribs and Italian sausage and we could continue eating each of them no-stop because they were incredible. French fries, onion rings and veggies also super good and the desert took my heart completely: homemade zabaione ice cream with Marsala, almond brittle and chilly flakes…there are no words to describe it. Even the limoncello cream was supreme. Many compliments also to the well-groomed place both inside an out in the garden. It’s visible that there is attention to the details and the intention of letting people sit and eat in a nice and comfort atmosphere but also elegant; service is simply impeccable and accurate. I am so happy of this experience that I wish and recommend to...
Read moreOne thing I really liked about Kohoutek is the grilled vegetables. The vegetables deserve 4.5 stars. The restaurant makes a big effort to call their chicken anything but chicken. Truth is, it looks like chicken and tastes like chicken so probably is chicken. But since the chickens are very small, maybe they feel like a different name makes it more acceptable for what you pay. I ate there three times in two weeks. The staff was always very friendly. However, the wait staff have kind of a "laissez-faire" attitude about customer service. If they are busy with other chores like prepping for the next day then you may be forgotten for a while. Of the three times eating there, the chicken was perfectly cooked once (a whole chicken), and a little overcooked twice (half chickens), not badly overdone but the white meat was cooked dry. Maybe the small size complicates consistent cooking. In any case, I think bigger chickens would attract more diners. For the above reasons, my...
