First off, this is a smoking bar. If you're a spoiled American like me, and used to everywhere being non-smoking, you find you care a whole lot about that when abroad. That being said, we really liked this bar for a couple reasons. The music was set at a volume that you could talk to your partner without telling, but not so quiet you could easily overhear what everyone where said. Inside: The interior is very small and seating a group bigger than 6 would be tough & the place can likely only hold one-two groups of 4+ anyway. The ambiance is very Flintstones. It felt like we were hiding in a cave.
Drinks: There are a lot of drinks to choose from, some familiar, some new, but all had descriptions, which I appreciate. Lots of drinks had fresh fruit choices.
Snacks: Food-wise, you could choose from a few standard bar choices. Peanuts, olives, "nachos" (really just chips & salsa), and a couple others.
Cost: I wasn't impressed or horrified either way. They seemed pretty average for a non-divey joint.
Staff: The two guys working were fast and attentive, but not overbearing (does that exist in Czech even?). This was the fastest bar service I've ever had, especially for a page where they come to you, though some of the fancier drinks took longer.
We had friends who lived in Prague years ago direct us here, and we will certainly pass along...
Read moreI was here tonight and can't say that I am very impressed. I drank a Hemingway Special and a Zombie. I was charged a total of 487.5 which is very strange as the menu states the total should be 445 Kourna. What is even more strange is that I was there during their happy hour which is meant to be 30% off. So the Hemingway special should be 136.50 Kourna and Zombie should be 175.00 Kourna total amounts to 311.5
Yet I was charged 487.5, I made sure to never leave a tip. Yet I was overcharged. I have attached photos as proof that I was there and this is genuine review. As it got slightly busier the barmaid continously had her back to the customers and was chatting away to the cocktail maker. This made getting her attention very frustrating especially when the bar is small and it's not hard to look around.
I will never be back here, I don't think it is right Orange Bar rips off tourists. Far better to go to Bukowski's...
Read moreCute neighborhood bar, but do not expect a hugh-end cocktail bar. The menu is deceiving. I came back here after walking by in the daytime and seeing the "House of Negroni" listing. I walked into what might have been a quiet neighborhood bar in the south of Spain. No standing, no social interaction, no bar to sidle up to and no bar tender to interact with.
I ordered my special Negroni off the extensive menu and they made it sort of quietly and invisibly after ushering me to a small table. It was a fine cocktail...a bit thin, not boozy or viscous as I'd expect, fairly sweet and not complex. But, a respectable facsimile of a fancy cocktail given its apparent apparition.
Come here with friends for a quiet respite from the louder, more interactive bars. Just don't expect what I...
