I remember visiting NoD on a regular basis before Covid kicked in. For me, it was a unique place due to its ambient atmosphere, darker lights and well-priced choice of drinks. Additionally to the main space, there was a theatre-like space with different arts exhibitions.
When I came here first time after the Covid limitations were lifted, I found NoD to be something different.
First of all, entire place was strikingly bright, to a point my eyes had difficulty adjusting at 11 pm :-) it was not full as I used to experience it on a Saturday night. The waiter warned us in advance there's no option to order food at this time which I knew in advance, and offered us a nice table near the window. Unfortunately, the sofa around table was covered with stains and didn't look quite welcoming.
We've proceeded to choose drinks, I decided to try NoDs special cocktail and my wife had Skinny B1tch one. The special cocktail mentioned to have a premium gin (though it didn't indicate which brand that would be) with lemon tonic. With a 200 CZK price tag I set my expectations quite high but the cocktail was quite a disappointment. It tasted like a mix of Beefeater gin from večerka across the street mixed with lemon Schweps :-) they also put some frozen blueberries (I guess?) but it was hard to say due to the texture of the berries. My wife's Skinny B1tch cocktail was more like a hard punch of vodka taste in your mouth rather than a gentle touch. We couldn't finish our drinks and decided to leave.
I have to admit service was ok and our waiter did the job - nothing spectacular but just what I expected.
Also, the theater-like space of NoD has been closed and we couldn't see what's behind the new door they put to isolate that part.
I hope NoD will find its new audience who's into food and bright lights but as someone who is looking for an ambient place to start your night with a good drink I would recommend to...
Read moreIt's hard to rate this place since it is café, but theater/performance place too. Every time I was there it was before theater or during some custom event (which used the stage too). Coffee itself is ok and there is a all kinds of liquor too. Not much comfortable high tables and chairs, but it is not anything bad. The stage feels improvised (and it is actually presented as experimental space, many student theater project are there) and at least for me is badly ventilated (it can get hot there and musty too, especially when they use smoke for performance). Overall it's and interesting space, I suggest going there for theatre, but short stop for coffee can be nice too. Under this place is dancing club Roxy with...
Read moreTerrible waitors, almost no alcohol in the cocktails and only one guy who takes payments. We were queuing for payment for almost half an hour!!! I can't believe that I didn't leave without payment. However, the worst was the guy who takes money. He was extremely rude, complained alll the time about guest ( used very gross words) and was blaming them for his own mistakes. Shame. The interior and location can't save everything. If this place remains like this, it will be just another tourist trap and no locals will...
