Just a warning to everyone, if you’re ever in Prague, to never go to Svejk Restaurant in the center, on Rijna Street. There are so many reasons that I’ll list below: 1. Terrible service, no respect. 2. They can’t adjust anything on the menu for you, if you for example (like one person in my company), can’t have cheese on the sandwich they say it’s already prepared and they can’t do anything about it. 3. The food and sandwiches and everything is really low quality and yet the most expensive thing we ate on the trip (even more than at hard rock café). 4. We changed our order when the waiter came back and informed us about the incapability of changing the dietary needs for one of us, she took one instead of two, and then when we got the bill he still charged us for both of them and said since he’d already printed the bill he couldn’t change it. He also charged us for two small pieces of bread and butter (what we did not ask for and assumed were free), and said that their boss had instructed them to never tell anyone about that as an attempt to get more money). We asked to speak with their boss who couldnt be bothered to show up or wasnt there but another one of the waiters showed up and said that they couldnt do anything about it and that he personally didnt CARE. He also threatened to call the police in case we didnt pay for the hidden fee and since we didnt have any change we ended up just giving them the whole sum and leaving. Such a shame cause it’s such a lovely city otherwise.

One of the worst experiences I ever had in a restaurant. On the 7th of February, around 9 30 AM, my wife and myself were looking for a place to have a coffee. The place was empty, except for a table with 2 guys. Some heaters were on. My wife went inside to ask for 2 coffees. The guy at the bar swore her in Czech (Píča, kurva, and some other words) and explained her in English that the place is not opened. She came outside and told me what happened. I did not want any conflict, but I decided to stay a bit longer until she calms. The guys came out yelling at us that the place is closed and we should leave. I told him that we are going to stay for a couple of minutes and that it is not normal to curse like that a woman. I asked him why there are people at the restaurant if it is closed and he said that those 2 guys at the table were his boss and a friend. The guy took my wife s phone from the table and told us to leave NOW. Of course we decided to leave, but while leaving I took a picture of the guy and of the restaurant. He cursed me and hit me while passing next to me because I took the photo. We left and, of course, decided never to come back. Nevertheless, this kind of rude and violent attitude was displayed in front of the man s boss, which means that this is the company s policy. Shame.

Avoid at all costs! We regret not checking the reviews on google maps before entering this rude restaurant. Be aware if you pay by cash ask for receipt 🧾 no matter what, they will try to avoid printing it to avoid tax 😡. In summary the food and service is extremely poor, as there are many hidden fees. Like 10% suggested tip they called mandatory, bread and cutlery 🍴 fee. The complementary bread 🍞. They just straight up attempted served bread that they had stored in garbage bags, and even tried to charge you for it. As for the rest of the food it is mediocre and bland. They meat was very dry and bland, and they charged extra for dumplings or it looked more like wet bread. When we asked for the bill they did not print a receipt for us, rather just showed us the total amount on screen. And expected us to pay by cash. When we asked for a printed receipt 🧾 the server got angry 😡, and tried to tell us the tip or service fee was mandatory. When we refused to give any tip at all we threatened to just leave without paying anything at all. This clearly shows how rude the staff is and how they are avoiding tax.

I've been staying in Prague for a couple of months already and everything has been hitherto fun and games, but has suddenly changed after visiting this substandard restaurant. And I tell you, I had some doubts already just after sitting down, when I just wanted to drink something warm and stay in the nice square, so I already knew what to order. But he insitingly tried to give me the menu, which i had to refuse with all my diplomatic manners (it would be easier to convince China giving up on fully annexing Hong Kong and Taiwan!) . After drinking the hot chocolate (which was more of a cocoa than hot chocolate) we asked for the bill and wished to pay in cash. He asked if I wished to give a service fee, which i kindly refused and his face has suddenly changed. I could see his anger and disappointment frowing inside of him and he suddenly reacted asking if anything has been alright and why wasn't I willing to give him the service fee. Shocked by the insistence of the waiter I did not know what to say, because I've never encountered a waiter so insistent on getting the service fee, which made me angry and even more prone not to give him the fee. I explained that we are in Europe and if I wasn't willing to give him the tip I would not give it. He started complaining that Europe is made out of many countries and that in Czech Republic you have to tip 10% and that in many other countries in Europe you have to tip the waiter. Stunned by the impertinency of the waiter I just told him to give me the change back and I left, laughing at the prospective of writing a nice review on Tripadvisor. But after seeing the big number of bad reviews here I realized that the restaurant unfortunately does not give a damn about the customers' opinion and knowing well they will just count on the number of the one-time visiting tourists passing by and leaving the so desired tip, while not caring for the...

It is a tourist trap. The menu is poorly translated and has no quantity or nutritional values added. We ordered for 7 people and only 5 of us got our food after 1 hour. And out of those 5 people that got their food, 3 got scammed. The food was either in very small portions or poorly cooked. The menu also had no pictures so you would really have no clue about what’s about to come. Our server dissapeared middle of service and another one kept apologising for all the mistakes, but still didn’t do much effort to fix anything. We ordered a steak, but we couldn’t choose the cook temperature on in and it was way overcooked and rubbery. Two pork legs and they gave us four small slices of pork at about 350czk. The pasta with chicken and mushrooms had big mushrooms poorly cooked and an unappetising look to them(and they were brought 1h 25min in). When we complained about anything we were always rushed and the only response we ever got was “sorry” or “yes, I undertand you”. Some extras: the toilets were pretty clean, but poorly equipped and covered. The employees were always on a rush, but that is understandable due to the huge capacity of the restaurant(over 300 seats). And the food is always delayed and ready at over 1h after ordering. The staff was nice and joking with locals, but serious and cold with tourists. Overall a bad experience that can really affect the day’s mood. God...
