Edit 4 years after my original 5 star: This used to be an absolute favorite spot of mine with warm Greek hospitality and amazing food, we often both ate in there or ordered. Sadly, it’s changed. I guess there has been both management and staff change has both the food and the atmosphere seem to have taken a hit (dry chicken, random seasoning, halloumi drowned in sweet balsamico, side salad tasted like it waited in the fridge for 3 days), and the welcoming vibe is also gone. It’s still "okay" food, but nowhere near what it used to be.
The current lady is weirdly passive-aggressive and overly controlling about reservations with no timeframes, and often for tables that stay empty. Once we were told to wait standing for a takeaway, despite the place being half-empty. Nobody had showed up for any of the empty tables in the 20 minutes we waited there.
On our last visit at 4 pm (not exactly peak time), only two tables were taken. We said we didn’t have a reservation, and were vaguely told we could sit here or “at the back," without clear direction. We picked a table at the back, and two minutes later she came over, loudly demanding, “I AM SORRY, WHAT IS YOUR NAME FOR RESERVATION TO SIT HERE?!” even though we had just told her we didn’t have one. A simple “sorry, this one’s taken” would’ve worked. Instead, she started aggressively wiping down the table behind us with angry hand gestures, like we’d committed some offense by moving the menu there one cm? Again, none of the reserved tables were used while we were there in the end.
She also turned away other guests who were trying to ask whether all the reservations are for very soon, can’t they to grab a quick bite in the meantime time etc. She rudely muttered “nerozumím vás” - which is ironic, because even I understood them with my broken Czech. They sounded Russian speaking, so it felt deliberate.
If I wanted that kind of “hospitality,” I’d go to a hospoda. Such a shame really…

Read moreJust home from Soul Kitchen for the first time, and I have nothing but positive feedback. The place looks like a bit of a hole in the wall, down some steps from the street and a very homey feel. I've walked past it I can't count how many times, and tonight the stars were aligned for us to dine there, and I'm so happy we finally made it.
First, make a reservation. We were fortunate to get a table (we started at a bar-height table, and then when another table left we were able to move to a normal-height table), as the place is pretty small and I would imagine can fill up quite quickly.
The menu is short and sweet. Everything looked really tasty as we entered and took glimpses at the food on the tables of our neighbors. The friendly waitress was very attentive and appeared just at the right times. When we had decided on what to order, she was right there. We landed on a cheese starter, the chicken sandwich, and the beef/pork burger patties.
Within about 10-15 minutes, all the food arrived to the table. It looked so good, we immediately started discussing tasting one another's food...each afraid the other had made a better selection. The portion sizes of the mains were quite generous as well.
Well, nothing to fear, everything was amazing. As we ate, we kept saying what a pity it was we hadn't come sooner, and that we would definitely be back again (perhaps as soon as tomorrow!).
So if you're looking for perfectly cooked Greek with delicious and interesting spices and wonderful staff that truly seems happy to have you there, I can't recommend this place highly enough. I've been to several other Greek offerings in Prague, and I definitely rate this one at the top of the range, and with extremely reasonable pricing to boot. Enjoy and...
