U Malvaze - Czech restaurant — Restaurant in Prague

Last week (2nd eeek of September 2025) , my daughter and I sat at one of the small table outside this restaurant on the street. We had just bought a famous local dessert (the little chimney cake with ice cream) from a nearby shop and afterwards wanted to enjoy some coffee together. Seeing the small outdoor tables of this restaurant, we decided to sit down.

Shortly after, a polite young waiter approached us, and we ordered our coffees. Everything seemed fine at first. About 10 minutes later, however, a bald, rather heavy-set man of medium height came to our table. He spoke to us in Czech, which we did not understand, but his body language and tone were very harsh. He made strong gestures on the table and behaved in a way that felt unnecessarily rude. My daughter was visibly uncomfortable.

Later, when the first polite waiter brought our coffees, we asked him if there was a problem and told him that the previous man’s behavior felt very rude and intimidating. He apologized and said he would pass our concern along, suggesting it might have been an internal issue with the shop that we bought the desert from.

While we enjoyed the coffee itself, the unpleasant interaction left us feeling quite uncomfortable. A place with such a nice location and friendly young staff should be careful not to let one person’s rudeness overshadow...

We had the pleasure of dining at U Malvaze on the evening when Czechia won the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championships! This dinner was made even more special by reuniting with my childhood friend from Germany and meeting her family after thirteen years.

The food was absolutely amazing!

The service was impeccable. David, the manager, and Jan, our waiter, went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. They patiently answered our questions and guided us in choosing the perfect local dishes and wines.

In the spirit of celebration, they treated us to a complimentary drink to toast Czechia’s triumph in the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championships. This gesture truly highlighted their hospitality and made our evening even more memorable.

10/6 about 6pm. A group of three, inclusive of my hubby, myself and my daughter dined there. Service was good and fast, not to mention the good food served. The HIGHLIGHT was we went for an Orchestra show at the St.Salvator Church. After one hour when the show finished. Only I realized my purse was missing. We rushed to the restaurant, and seriously my purse was WELL KEPT safely by the Restaurant staff. I really was speechless till I forgot to take a picture of those HONEST and KIND HEARTERED staff (You know who you are!) My sincere thanks indeed! You kept our PRAGUE trip so unforgettable.
