Ugh. This is at best a 3.5 star property if it were firing on all cylinders but as is, our experience was a weak 2 stars. ||Customer service can make or break an establishment and there wasn’t one employee who showed any competent level of hospitality. ||The front office lurch barked at my wife because she was going to take a picture of the old school key system they have in place. He yelled something about 17th century frescoes in the lobby. Well, she wasn’t taking a picture of those and there were ZERO signs prohibiting photography. ||Perhaps the worst aspect was the lack of cleaning of our room for the ENTIRE 4 day stay. We’d leave in the AM and would be gone until the afternoon. We expected our room to be clean upon our return and nothing had been done, in spite of the fact that we placed the “clean our room” sign on the door. I asked a housecleaner for some towels to hold us over and she spoke no English. And no German. And no Spanish. She just pointed down and said “reception.” I marched my rear end to reception and good ol’ Lurch was there again. I asked if our room could be cleaned and he said priority went to people checking out and we could expect our room to be cleaned in the late afternoon. Well, that goes against all cleaning travel protocols I’ve ever experienced. Rooms should be cleaned in the late AM, not in the late afternoon or evening. That’s dumb. ||The included breakfast was b-grade embassy suites fare. And if you had the audacity to sleep in and try to eat any later than 0930, the line was gigantic. No sneeze guards and there were tons of sick, syphilitic children coughing all over the food. Yuck. ||The place is not cheap and they doubled the price during New Years. ||The ONLY benefit was the room faced the water and therefore the fireworks for NYE. But I paid a lot extra for that privilege. ||There are literally tons of boutique hotels all around where we were and unless you paid extra or really wanted a river view, it is 100% not worth it. ||I’m not going to complain about the noise-it’s expected and we used sound machines to drown out the 5 story EDM club that is about 50 feet from the hotel. It’s the largest club in Central Europe, fyi. You will be treated to swarms of young men spilling out on to the streets at 5am. ||There was so much more to complain about but why bother? We visited 5 countries this trip and this by far was the worst accommodations we had. ||This place sucked. We are blessed with the ability to travel a lot and we will never stay here or their affiliated properties. ||And send lurch to...
Read moreOur first visit to Prague was a delight! Our accomodations at Charles Bridge Palace Hotel were a large part of that & really set the tone for our experience in Prague. We were met at the door with a friendly smile by a liveried gentleman, Ahmed, who made sure our check -in went smoothly ,delivered our bags to the room & gave us information in excellent English. The multilingual staff at the front desk were accomodating , professional and friendly throughout our stay as well. They helped us make tour arrangements and gave dining reccomendations throughout our stay. We were given a beautiful corner room (208) with tall windows opening onto the cobblestoned courtyard below. So charming. The room was really lovely with very high ceilings, dark carved wood furniture and gold damask drapes & bedding that exuded old world elegance. The beautiful bohemian glass & crystal chandelier added another touch of grace to the turn of the last century feeling. Our bathroom was fairly large with a sink & medicine cabinet, shower, toilet, bidet and most appreciated - a towel warmer fixture! (no bathtub) The rooms have an old fashioned key entry and lock with an impressive deadbolt that would keep out even the most determined invader. Also a key which you may keep during your stay locks the in-room wall safe. Also included in the price of the room was a wonderful full breakfast each day. Breakfast is served in a crystal chandeliered dining room with a huge abundance of choices self-serve buffet style. Hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, sausages & potato served in covered salvers alongside an array of platters mounded with fresh baked breads, croissants and pastries. There are trays of lovely toasts or sandwiches with melted cheese decorated with rosettes of ham or sliced turkey of smoked salmon.. Also a great abbondanza of fresh veggies, fruits, yogurts, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, etc. In short- just about anything you might want for a delicious breakfast. There was one coffee machine that makes espresso, cappuccino, latte, cocoa, etc at the touch of a button - The one small improvement might be if there were more than one of these or another pot with coffee at the ready as this becomes a waiting line when many guests are trying to get coffee at the same time. In general, the hotel is a wonderful experience if you are not looking for the more modern, ultra-plush tourist stay. We loved this for it's quirky old world elegance , kind service & great location just as we would staying at a Victorian in...
Read moreVery dirty room! Super location, great for exploring the Old Town and Charles bridge. We paid extra for a superior river view room which we were excited to see, however we were disappointed on so many levels! -Reception had lost the room key so we had to wait half an hour to check in and go to our room. -The room was huge but looked bare. It had 2 single beds tucked away in a dark section of the room where you could just see a TV and wall....the river view or window was not at all visible from the bed. -There are no plug sockets anywhere near the beds..they are in another section of the room, metres away! So it was impossible to have anything plugged in beside either bed. The room was dirty in many places!! There were 5 hairs in the beds, some stains on one of the sheets, hair in the sink. When we pulled the bed out to try and find a plug socket we founded a used condom wrapper!! I went down yo request a thorough room clean. I was amazed that someone didn't come until the next day to clean the condom away. Even if there were no cleaners the receptionist should have come immediately to sort clean sheets and remove the condom wrapper! I felt sick sleeping in dirty sheets knowing what was under the bed!! This should have been dealt with immediately. I had to remove the hairs from the sheets myself and shake the sheets well before l could contemplate sleeping. The next afternoon the room was cleaned and a half bottle of sparkling wine was left with a bar of chocolate and an apology. This was a gesture but it felt too late, it should have been dealt with immediately, even if the receptionist came and used the condom wrapper himself.I feel the night should have been fully refunded. -The reception team were apologetic. -We did not feel like valued guests at all. -The rest of the room needs updating and cleaning. The 4 chairs in our room all had stains on the seats. The wash cupboard in the bathroom had stains on. PLEASE CLEAN THE ROOMS, REMOVE THE STAINS AND PROVIDE PLUGS IN...
