Residence U Malvaz — Hotel in Prague

Really a big disappointment. After arrival you have to go through a restaurant full of people to reception and back again to the room. We didn’t get a room like on picture at booking. We went up almost 100 stairs, which were in bad condition. I can’t imagine an old person going up those stairs without a problem. Or a person after injury of knee like me. Very unpleasant. Upon arriving to the room, we saw the bed right next to the door and the room was very small. We could hear people from other rooms and even extreme noise from outside even after 10 pm. It’s a very busy place. Nobody tidied the rooms, as seen on a picture. The shower door couldn’t open, and the hose was damaged, water was switching from hot to cold on its own. The hairdryer only worked for some time so I couldn’t dry my hair. There was dust everywhere and the beddings smelled badly. The mattresses kept falling apart. The quality of sleep was terrible. I really can’t recommend.

Opravdu velmi velké zklamání. Hned při příjezdu člověk musí jít přes plnou restauraci lidí na recepci a pak zase přes restauraci směř pokoje. Nedostali jsme pokoj jaký byl vyfocený na bookingu. Vyšlapali jsme téměř 100 schodů, které byly ve špatném stavu a při cestě ze schodů to bylo na úraz, neboť schod se zdál rovný, ale v některých je prohlubeň nebo schod nebyl rovný. Neumím si představit, že starší člověk by to v pořádku zvládl, nebo člověk, který má po operaci koleno jako třeba já. Velmi nepříjemné. Po zdolání schodů a otevření pokoje jsme videli hned u dveří postel a pokoj naprosto malinkatý. Každé slovo z pokoje šlo slyšet přes dveře. V pokoji jsem slyšeli i lidi z pokojů vedlejších. Bohužel jsme neslyšeli jen lidi z jiných pokojů, ale nesnesitelný hluk z venku i po desáté hodině večerní. Opravdu velmi rušné místo. Dále k pokoji tak úklid, nebo možná neúklid na bodu mrazu viz. foto. Sprchové dveře nedovíraly, hadice od sprchy byla poškozená, voda tekla chvilku studená a chvilku vřelá, fén fungoval jen urřitou dobu a i když jsem vlasy neměla suché tak již se nerozjel. Všude prach a povlečení mělo nepříjemný pach, tím nechci říct, že smrdělo jen ten pach byl odpuzující. Matrace se neustále rozjížděly takže kvalita spánku po náročném pracovním dni vzhledem k výše uvedeným faktorům byla hrozná. Opravdu...

Beware! There are two parts to this hotel. The one looks like the pictures shown on line and other doesn't. We booked a two bedroom "suite" with 2 bedrooms and one bath 3 months before our trip. We paid over $400 per night because we planned to be there New Year's weekend (4 adults). The accommodations essentially were one standard bedroom and a loft. There was no common sitting area. Stairs to the loft were narrow --- designed for children not adults. The loft had 3 twin beds, one night stand and a table lamp, two overhead lights (one burnt out) and a small rack for hanging clothes- (about 2 feet wide)-- no mirror, sitting chair, phone, TV or any other accommodations. The beds were hard to the point that we used the bedding on the 3rd bed and our jackets to cushion the "mattress". The staircase we used did not look at all like the posted picture. it had wires hanging where a fixture had been removed, missing handrails, uneven steps, and lights were burnt out. We knew there was no elevator, but climbing four flights of stairs with suitcases and little or no light meant we had to use our flashlights. This staircase was exterior to the reception area and the room. Therefore to go to either the reception or the restaurant, you had to go outside with jackets and umbrellas. The reception area was accessed off of a back street that had graffiti . The exterior parts of the property appeared to be under repair with ladders and equipment left behind. Beautiful building, great location, but the experience was a big letdown.

Stayed 3 nights here with my kids. I picked the hotel mainly for its great location and the promise of three separate beds in one room , and both of those delivered. The royal suite was spacious and looked nice.

Unfortunately, things went downhill fast. About an hour after check-in, I got an email saying there would be renovation work right outside our room from 9 AM to 5 PM. No heads-up before arrival..

Next morning, I woke up at 7:30 AM to workers shouting right outside our window, literally two meters from where I slept. I mentioned this to the reception, they apologized and promised it would stick to the 9–5 schedule. But same thing happened the next morning, again before 8.

For a hotel charging €300 a night, this is just unacceptable. We didn’t sign up for drilling, banging, and early-morning construction noise during our vacation.

Noise in general was a major problem. You can hear everything through the walls and doors, street noise, even mysterious sounds from the air-conditioning system in the middle of the night (even though it was off). If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs. My kids ended up sleeping with their earbuds in.

Breakfast looked nice but didn’t really match the quality of the food.
