Expect to be treated rudely if you don’t tip like a tourist from countries where tipping is part of the culture. In general, I have no problem tipping and doing it generously if it’s part of the culture (and if it’s deserved!), but before arriving in Copenhagen we had read in many different websites that tipping is neither required nor expected in Denmark, service charge already being included in the menu prices. The website visitcopenhagen.com specifically states that tipping is only done for exceptional service and that in such cases 10% is sufficient. So, when at the moment of paying for our meal and finding that the card reader was presented to us already with the 15% tip selected (not even the lowest option available on the screen, and frankly not deserved given that our waiter had disappeared after serving our main courses and we had to call on a different waiter more than once) I exercised my right to remove the tip. From the moment Mariam greeted us with her radiant smile, we knew we were in for something special. She has that rare combination of professionalism, warmth, and genuine care that instantly makes guests feel welcome and valued.
Mariam doesn’t just take orders — she creates experiences. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, remembered every detail of our preferences, and delivered everything with effortless grace. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and her recommendations were absolutely spot-on.
What truly sets Mariam apart is her passion. You can feel that she truly loves what she does — every interaction feels sincere, every dish she serves is presented with pride, and every guest walks away smiling because of her attention and energy.
In a world where good service is becoming rare, Mariam reminds us what great hospitality truly means. She turns a simple meal into a memorable moment, and that’s why she absolutely deserves to win the title of Best Waiter.
Thank you, Mariam, for setting the standard of excellence so high. You’re not just the best waiter — you’re the heart of the...
Read moreThe food was great, nothing to argue about that. The 1* goes to an employee, therefore it’s for the service that was the worst we ever experienced. We ate, paid (left a tip if anyone wonders), said our goodbyes and got to the door just to be approached by a… [bad word] waiter asking us if we paid the bill 😳. And he was’t even our waiter as far as i remember. You should have checked before asking, you employee, and not put us and yourself (now) into such embarrassing situation. No idea about the kind of clients you have there, but… really,...
