Used to be a nice place.. i would say last few times having a busy day and craving for a healthy lunch break i see there are pretty neurotic hosting at receiving end and coming from a paperwork and a hundred phonecalls day, i was presented with a paperwork and a pencil not at all willing to guide me or suggest or at least hear me out i did my reading already, i need a meal, a break, a bit of comfort for lunch … here was just a grumpy a bit arrogant youngsters.. i felt i was bothering and had to do more work…. Not hospitable at all… even the place used to be nice. For the poke filled with sauce cant see the rice anymore, to order it takes a huge paperwork (lunchtime) to go through in order to finally explain that i want a standard poke, pencil smashed at my table, do it yourself, man and she walked away. Yes i was busy usually when i land for a quick lunch, but both times have not truly fed my day. Poke that looks like a chicken curry. I hope they will at least be more sweet … whats the point of restaurant if you dont want to work there… a bit sorry...
Read moreExcept for the ubiquitous sushi fare, I'm not particularly familiar with Japanese cuisine, and Tokumaru seemed like a weird place to start, being an inexpensive cafe at a mall. I went there on a recommendation from the locals, and boy, was I glad that I did. Ordered mushroom maki (among others) on their web page, paid for the order, then they call back saying they are out of mushrooms, so they offered to replace them with something else; I'm usually not a complainant type, but they'd just thrust this on me, and no apologies whatsoever, + the replacing sushi were cheaper then those I ordered initially. The chopsticks were absent. The masago coating on California was barely visible and literally dissolved into the rice. Massive use of rolls' edge cuts as normal-sized sushi, with stuffing replaced by some weed (and not just this time). Not to mention they don't put adhesive tape around the soy sauce stack anymore, so the sauce is often being spilled during transportation. Looks like this is goodbye.
