My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Akashon, from the moment we entered the restaurant till the mid moment we left. The restaurant has setup a very nice dining environment, the space between tables are well allocated so you feel relaxed and won’t hear lots noise from other tables. My wife’ don’t feel like eating meat at first so she ordered the white asparagus. I ordered the veal which is real fantastic as I have eaten veal several times just couple days ago at northern Italy and this veal meals at Akashon definitely stands out. So I encouraged my wife to order the veal and she did and she is glad that she took my advice. So we ended up ordering 2 veals at the end. I believe other dishes at Akashon should also be good just by looking at the way that they prepare the veal. Not just the veal is so juicy and tender, the vegetable sides are also prepared so delectable. We also took the advice from our waiter and ordered 2 cream brûlées and which are also tasted so good. On top of all these offerings, I think the menu items are very reasonably priced which is another plus. If you come visit Chamonix, come visit Akashon, you...

From the moment we walked in, the maître d’ decided invisibility was our theme for the night. We ordered a bottle of wine, and apparently that was our ration for the entire evening — the empty bottle sat on the table for an hour and a half, begging for attention like a houseplant no one watered.
The food? Let’s just say the “chorizo” in the risotto had more in common with Oscar Mayer hot dogs than anything remotely Iberian. The “pesto pasta” tasted like it was swiped straight from a kid’s menu, butter noodles in a green Halloween costume.
Several of us tried the fish. Some plates were raw, some were cooked through — it was like roulette, except nobody won. A few in our group actually left mid-meal, and the staff didn’t even notice.
I personally had one beer the entire night, and at this place, that was apparently a luxury. If you’re into long stretches of neglect, mystery meat masquerading as fine cuisine, and a staff with the observational skills of a garden gnome, this is your spot. Otherwise,...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant due to its appearance on the Michelin guide. We got positive impressions from the ambience and the welcoming and the staff were overall accommodating and friendly. In the same time the menu price was quite low, which initially raised questions to us.
When the food started arriving we understood why the price was low: all three courses (appetiser, main and dessert) were very poor (even the amuse bouche was not really edible) and we struggled to complete our dinner.
In the same time, even if the staff was friendly and was making an effort, the service was badly-timed, long and the staff did not look very confident in its tasks.
At the end we regretted to have chosen the fix menu and we observed a couple of neighbouring tables that seemed to have ordered à la carte, with better-looking dishes.
All in all we found the experience disappointing and based on what we tasted we are of the opinion that the restaurant should not appear on a list...
