Hotel is modern, close to the center, good facilities. If that is what you are looking for great.
Manager⊠be aware, when a man thinks it is ok to turn to your 3 year old child and talk directly to him blaming their parents for making a mistake in the booking, without even asking permission to talk him/her⊠I think it says a lot.
Donât even try to argue, he will go straight to the cliche arguments: âI didnât say that, you are playing with wordsâ, âI have another 100 customers in the hotel and they are happyâ.
So read all the small print, because you are in for a âI couldnât care lessâ approach. For instance, KIDS are not allowed in the swimming pool after 2pm (if you want your kid(s) to go to the swimming pool book those ski lessons in the afternoon).
Original review above edited from this point onwards, to reply to the manager: Dear Sir, it seems that you heard your front office manager version, and didnât care to speak with the guest (who by the way is still at the hotel as we speak). Your front office manager didnât hear me complaint again about the SPA and the fact that children cannot attended it after he said there were no exceptions! If anything, in my review I even alert the future guests to read the small print, so they can enjoy the good hotel, with no surprises (your website is not clear on it, and many other reviews show that, as well as other guests who overheard our conversation). My complaint and the conversation got out of hand when your front office manager decided to talk to a 3 year old, bad mouthing his parents, with no permission from the parents to even address the child (everything was a polite conversation up to that point). If you and your office manager think that is normal or acceptable you are wrong! Plain and simple. You couldnât expect a parent not to react to something like that, particularly because I was careful enough to in good faith give your front office manager an opportunity to consider what had just happened by politely telling him âYou realise you just spoke to a 3 year old not a 18 year old, right..?â. On top of that and in case you didnât know, I had a very polite conversation with your staff member after you left (the receptionist staff who was checking us in) . Where apologies were exchanged in a very polite manner despite no apparent offences taken (she went out of her away to make us feel welcome, amazing on her part after the sad episode you made your recently arrived guests go through). Your front office manager is the problem, and you fail to understand that it is not acceptable to direct yourself to a 3 year old without the parents permission let alone to bad mouth the child parents in a loud tone of voice. You should also be mindful that your front office manager after lying about the fact that the SPA rules were âeverywhereâ throughout the booking process (for the benefit of future guests, they are not, it is only in the spa page on the website and then on the email received AFTER payment without the ability to cancel), and when he was confronted that only in one place in the whole website it explained this reality, he decided to lie and say that he didnât say âeverywhereâ, that I was now âplaying with wordsâ. So yes, the front office manager is the problem, unacceptable behaviour by anyone, let alone the front office manager. The rest of the other staff was amazing, and tried to make up for the unexpected realisation that we couldnât take a child to the pool in the afternoon period with alternative activities (that simple). Beyond the front office manager (and apparently yourself) the hotel staff understand that operating an hotel is making people feel like they are at home within rules to ensure everyone can have a good time, whilst you believe that running an hotel is about making everyone follow rules no matter what and they canât even be questioned in good faith, you even lie if you have to and speak to a 3yr old in an elevated tone voice, without...

Our stay at the Heliopolis Hotel and Spa in Chamonix was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and charm â and a delightful surprise of complimentary ice cream, a thoughtful touch that immediately made us feel cared for.
The hospitality here is on another level. Every member of staff we encountered was not only friendly and approachable but also impressively professional. Their dedication to guest comfort was evident in every detail, and they struck the perfect balance between attentive service and personal space.
The hotel itself is beautifully designed, blending alpine elegance with modern luxury. The extensive wellness facilities were a true highlight: a pristine indoor pool, multiple saunas, a serene spa area, and plenty of quiet corners to relax and unwind. Whether we were soaking in the spa or lounging post-sauna, it all felt incredibly rejuvenating.
We also appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea available throughout the day â ideal for cozying up after a day exploring the mountains or enjoying a morning on the terrace with a view of Mont Blanc. As a kid at heart I love that they have free play arcade games. They also have scooters and bikes you can use to explore the town.
Every aspect of our stay reflected quality and care. Heliopolis Hotel and Spa is more than a hotel â itâs an experience. Whether youâre here for adventure or relaxation, this is the kind of place youâll want to return to again and again.
Highly recommended without hesitation.
Ps. There is a beautiful mountain stream a short walk away. Walk down the main road to the left from the hotel. 30m past the roundabout you will see a small walking track leading into the forest. Follow the track up the hill for 5-10 minutes and you will come across a beautiful waterhole perfect for a morning cold water immersion or recovery session after hiking, climbing or biking. See the photos included in...
Read moreGreat location, nicely appointed rooms, spa/pool, very friendly and helpful staff.
I would strongly recommend that you do not book an âattic room ââ I risked a concussion every time I try to shower or get into bed and Iâm only 5â3â tall. My 6â2â tall partner crouched around the room for the entire stay! The only way to shower, since the ceiling is slanted so acutely, is to squat in the bathtub! Lost a star for the crazy ceiling height which wasnât clear when booking and since the sheets and towels werenât changed until we specified and lack of counter space in the bathroom. We still give the hotel four-stars for all the other amenities and the value, given what you get for the price, but be aware of the attic room!
The rooms are otherwise spacious and quiet. No fridge but there is a balcony so that we just put our food outside in the snow :)
The hotel is located nicely far enough away from the busy Main Street to avoid noise, but close enough to be able to walk easily in less than 10 minutes. The hotel is right next to the Aguille du midi lift station, but be aware that it only opens after 21 December. (In fact, most things in Chamonix are not open until late December, including restaurants and attractions.) The hotel is also conveniently within walking distance to the train and bus station in Chamonix. Our room also had a great view of the beautiful mountain scenery.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant - Akashion which was very good and reasonably priced. French food with an Asian twist with prix fix options (25-30 Euro) as well as a la Carte. The dessert and appetizers were the highlights. The service was absolutely wonderful and the staff speak English as well as French.
The hotel also offers breakfast which you can add to your room fee or for 17Euro per day. We opted to just have breakfast in town in the numerous bakeries within walking distance so we could try a number of different places.
