I didn’t get the « chance » to eat here since they « choose who they want to serve ». I don’t recall ever writing a negative review, our experience here was just too bad not to tell it.

I was craving crispy fries (if you know you know) and was out trying to find a nice parisien bistrot to prepare them for us. My girl friend insisted on ordering for me. She came back outside 2 minutes later, crying, as she explains the waiter was very rude to her. They refused to serve her, said that they decided she didn’t fit their « clients’ criteria », and that she should instead go to a Kebab place.

By telling the story to one of our friends a little later, he’s in chock, thinks we’re lying and decides to go inside to order fries. The exact same thing happens to him : he doesn’t fit the criteria, and should go to a Kebab place where he would fit. Because he’s indian, and our first friend is persian, he gets very offended by it. As he’s starting to loose patiente, he asks them to serve us in ‘take away’ so we can simply put that story behind us. This is when they tell us they don’t have boxes for take away, not even for doggy bag. Even if this service is mandatory in french restaurants since July 1st, 2021.

I’m very mad this happened to us, in june 2023. You should be ashamed you dared being that mean to customers. And for what ? fries ? …

edit as i can’t answer to your response to my comment : I’m very sorry this accident occurred but I am absolutely not lying neither mistaking your restaurant. My two friends can totally confirm my sayings. We can discuss that in private messages if you want. The incident occurred on June 9th around 8 or 9pm. Be aware if you delete my comment I’ll post it again as everything I am saying...

Opted to have a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for a total of €14 - quite a reasonable deal. However, wasn't enjoying the food so much as the bread they served us was dry and probably out for a while. The starter was fine, but by the time the main meal came, the pork I ordered was dry and not particularly enjoyable. Rather than make a fuss about the poor quality of the food, we thought we would just skip the dessert and asked to cancel it instead. We were barely a quarter of the way into eating the main meal when we asked for this. Didn't seem to be an issue until we asked for the bill, we ended up getting charged more than we would have if we had just gotten the dessert and not eaten it. The dessert had been cancelled and we were charged for a 2 course meal with a glass if wine separately - worked out to be €14.80. We enquired about what we perceived to be an unfair overcharging - we were told it was because the dessert had already been prepared and was being wasted. Doesn't make much sense as even if we had the dessert it would have been the same amount of food prepared. Either way, it just felt unpleasant and in hindsight I think we should have voiced our concerns that the food was of sub par quality, and explained that was why we didn't want dessert anymore, but based on the staff member's attitude I don't think the feedback would have been appreciated. In the end we just coughed up the extra €1.60 and laughed it off as part of the Parisian dining experience - haughty and ungracious. It's not true for most places I've been, but this one hit the nail...

A EVITER / TO AVOID

We booked a table for 18h30 and we arrived in advance. Five minutes after we sat down, the waiter came to us three times to force us to ask our friend when she would arrive, in a terribly impolite manner. After we turned him down, this young waiter began to critisize us as dishonest clients, and we were told that we would only have two hours to finish our meal, which came from nowhere. Eventually our friend arrived at 18h44 due to traffic jam, the waiter's verbal attack continued, and we decided to leave this terrible place calmly.

In expecting for a nice Saturday evening of moments of reunion with friends, it made me feel like eating sh*t.

But fortunately we managed to have a good time in another nice restaurant, since Paris never lacks good food and nice service. That's why I want to share this terrible experience so that others can avoid. After all should I have checked all those terrible reviews on GoogleMaps before, I would never have reserved here. Adieu.

----------------------------------update------------------------------

Please don't lie about any facts including the time we arrived. We have proof. Setting your clock half an hour faster won't...

A quick walk away from Notre Dame, this little place serves a solid locals dinner. Our party of four enjoyed everything. We were welcomed by an attentive server who explained their daily menu. Our appetizer of fresh tomatoes and burrata was delicious, light and flavorful. The selection of wines by the glass was small but attentively chosen to compliment their dishes. The highlight was the sauces. The chicken breast was perfectly cooked and the gravy buttery served with mashed potatoes. The Chilean sea bass was lovely to look at and even better to taste worthy of two glasses of rosé. The risotto was on the small side but big flavor. The lamb was a hearty dish. Dessert was a raspberry Mille-feuille that was non traditionally presented with flavors that complimented a closing coffee. Overall we felt like locals enjoying the corner bistro on a quiet evening across from Notre Dame.

I don’t understand why the reviews here are positive. - ordered ravioles, asked for cheese and the waiter went to the kitchen to tell his boss that we asked for cheese, with a tone of humiliation. It’s not normal to make fun of customers, from a distance where we could hear everything. - heard us we ask for the bill, but the waiter just moved away without any answer, when we didn’t even finish the sentence. - i was wearing a dress, did my legs interest you..? Impolite to stare - in terms of food, i’ve tried many other ravioles, but this one smelled in a weird way. + just to note that this behavior did not come from 1 waiter but a couple.

Great bistro, not too large like some places, smaller with better atmosphere. The food is exceptional, best French fries I have ever tasted and I’ve eaten a lot. A varied Tapas menu and happy hour drinks they are interesting and different. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. Happy hour is between 3 and 9 but this place is worth coming anytime. The area is busy but not crowded, close to Notre Dame but not a tourist trap. I’m glad we found this place after a river cruise. Our waiter was Norbert, friendly and informative. He served us gin cocktails with infused gin (a house specialty) and organic tonic, superb!
