I recently visited this Indian restaurant in Paris, and while I was excited to experience authentic Indian cuisine abroad, the experience was unfortunately disappointing. First, the food was quite overpriced for what we received. The quality was mediocre at best, lacking the vibrant flavors Indian food is known for. Given the high price tag, I expected much more in terms of taste and presentation. Additionally, one major aspect that deeply bothered me was the setup of the restaurant. They had alcohol placed near the idols, which many Indians worship. This felt highly disrespectful to Indian traditions and beliefs, where religious spaces are considered sacred and separate from things like alcohol. It made the ambiance feel uncomfortable and inconsiderate, especially for those who are familiar with or practice these customs. Overall, while I appreciate the effort to bring Indian cuisine to Paris, the combination of overpriced food and a disrespectful dining environment means I won’t be returning.

Absolutely outstanding experience – both food and service! We had the pleasure of dining at RATN during our stay in Paris, and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked through the grand black entrance door, we were impressed by the elegant and warm atmosphere, with beautiful metallic and bronze details throughout the interior. The food was simply spectacular – full of authentic Indian flavors, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced. Every dish we tried felt crafted with care and attention to detail. The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without ever being intrusive. RATN is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paris and looking for world-class Indian cuisine in a luxurious setting. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in the city!

This place rips you off. The owner is extremely rude and unfriendly. The portion sizes are so small that you will need $1000 for a meal that will fill up a family of 4. Owner gives a disclaimer at the time of taking order that the food preparation will take time so order everything upfront, and by the time food comes your appetite goes away. Taste wise food is ok but that does not compensate for the extremely slow service and rudeness. They refill with tap water and serve used water bottles. Overall, I and my family were highly dissatisfied for the price we paid and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. This place should be closed down as soon as possible before they cheat more customers. If you have a small team and 1 cook, how is that customer's problem? Then you should have only 1 customer at a time. If you do not want to hire more people and also charge exorbitantly to your customers with extremely slow service, that is not a viable business model to operate with. Even after paying $200 for dinner the other day, we were still hungry but we had to stop because you take 40 minutes to cook probably world's smallest naan. Please learn to accept negative feedbacks and focus on improving your service and hospitality rather than arguing about it. I am just sharing my bad experience to save others from falling into the same trap as I did. Atithi devo bhava, in case you have forgotten. READ my post CAREFULLY - I said even after paying $200 for dinner we were still hungry, so one will need $1000 for a meal that will fill up a family of 4. We travel all over the world but never paid 24 euros for 3 (open) bottles filled with tap water and that is the height of ridiculousness!! Will not deny that we came in expecting to have a fine dining experience but left hungry, frustrated and cheated. RATN was one of the worst restaurants we have been to. We had very normal expectations and so do not need to travel with our own kitchen crew. If you could not provide even basic food services, then may be you should shut down and do some introspection. Why do guys bring open water bottles to the table then? Yes, we regret our decision to come to RATN, wish we had seen those past reviews. We worked very hard for the money you EXTORTED from us that day, obviously it is going to hurt. Why do you keep coming back to your stupid reasoning of personal attendants / servants? If this is what you want to be, may be I can help you. Rest assured, I will spread the word to my local community here and will also find out how to officially file a complaint with the local administration against your prized establishment. We also saw you yelling at the family sitting next to us asking them to shut their little kid up. If I were them, I would have walked out right away. Your nonsense is not going to last for very long. Start believing in KARMA!! Your menu and prices are published but not the portion sizes (2 tablespoons of curry for 25 euros). Also put a disclaimer - if you want to fill up your belly, be ready to pay a fortune. Stop wasting customer's precious time by having them wait rather focus on improving your attitude and service. Saw many other negative feedbacks, you never apologize once for your...

Ratn Restaurant in Paris: A Gastronomic Tragedy Unveiled

My recent foray into Ratn, an Indian restaurant nestled in Paris, has left me reeling from an experience that can only be described as a culinary catastrophe. From start to finish, every aspect of this ordeal shattered any expectations I might have held.

The service was an absolute debacle. While the owner lady appeared courteous, her interpretation of great hospitality led her to overstep her bounds repeatedly, becoming overly imposing as a host. The staff made assurances of providing tap water, only to present bottled water (for which they charged) that mysteriously remained unopened, hinting at a questionable practice to deceive customers. The overall demeanour was marked by an air of indifference that bordered on outright apathy. Our orders were taken with all the enthusiasm of someone reluctantly performing a chore, leaving me with profound regret for even considering stepping foot in this establishment.

Now, onto the heart of the matter – the food. The dishes at Ratn were an exercise in contradiction, managing to be both insipid and underwhelming in their flavours. However, what truly defied belief was the price-to-portion ratio. To be charged a staggering 17 Euros for a mere two minuscule pieces of disgusting to eat samosas was a slap in the face to any notion of value. I would sooner consume mud than subject myself to this culinary disaster again.

The portions, as described by the restaurant's staff, were allegedly sufficient to feed six individuals. This claim left us questioning whether there should be legal consequences for restaurateurs who peddle offensive portions of food under the guise of a gourmet experience. The audacity to charge exorbitant prices for laughable portions was a disheartening testament to the disregard Ratn has for its patrons' satisfaction.

Adding to the misery was the owner's presence, a looming specter whose overbearing demeanor cast a shadow over our meal. Her dismissive remarks, such as 'In restaurants like this, you do not get tap water,' only further solidified the sense of unwelcome that pervaded the entire experience.

In summation, Ratn's disinterested service and egregious culinary offerings make it a dining destination to avoid at all costs. The insultingly small portions and exorbitant prices are nothing short of a travesty, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth that no amount of samosas could mask. Save yourself the disappointment and explore the countless other dining options that Paris has to offer – your taste buds and your wallet will undoubtedly thank you.

Oh and now, await the reply of the owner on this comment. Disclaimer: it will be overbearing, will not acknowledge constructive feedback and will also be...

Poor taste of food and poor customer service. I placed an order for food at 2:55p and the restaurant asked me to pick up the food in 45 minutes. I was at the restaurant at 3:30p to pick up the food. When I asked about the food, the owner started shouting that it was not yet 45 minutes. He asked me to come back in another 20 mins (which would make it one hour since the order). In any case I returned in 20 minutes. The owner could have easily talked nicely and said that it took longer. When we got home to eat the food, we ordered a naan, but got a roti (or the naan was just poor quality). All the food, which took nearly an hour to make, tasted very poor. I've been to numerous good restaurants all over the world and in particular the best Indian restaurants. This one is just poor quality in taste. If people see a pattern of the reviews in Google, you will see 'poor customer service' as a consistent theme about RATN. Instead of admitting and changing the owner also writes back to these reviews justifying he is correct. He should understand that in a service business, the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT...Poor poor style from this owner...

This owner continues to have his head in the sand and just does not listen to feedback. He continues to argue and pontificate his reasons for being justified in his approach...he can continue. I will certainly never come back and will tell my circle of friends to avoid this place...

Just to share another experience I had...I placed a takeaway order from Berkeley Garden, another nearby Indian restaurant. I went to pick up the food and the food was not ready. However as soon as I went, the manager apologized for the delay, asked me to take a seat, offered me water and beer, and gave me a 10% discount. This was customer service that perhaps RATN can learn from!!!. When I got the food back my family enjoyed the food unlike the food from RATN. Seeing my family say the food is good is the only barometer for me...unfortunately RATN got a "food is bad" rating from my family...

Anyone reading this review would do well to go to Berkeley Garden instead of RATN. It is close by, has a better customer service approach and much...
