Unfortunately we have this bad experience in Berlin with scuh restaurant. My friend has ordered the grilled pork steaks, typical german food, and in the half way he found out the middle of the pork steak was raw!! I talked in German to the waitress with blond hair who served us the foods, and at first she looked at the steak and said calmly that it was a beef steak cooked medium so it was fine. What an unbelievably dishonest person who acted falsely and submissively. I told her to look at the bill what we have actually ordered, and pointed at the raw spot with even a bit of blood in the middle of the steak and emphasized again it was a piece of raw pork meat not well cooked. Then she still insisted that it was not blood and nevertheless had to make compromise and admitted indirectly the fact it was raw anyway. So she took the half consumed dish quickly away to the kitchen and came back and asked shall we recook it somehow or offer some sort of desserts. I told her my friend completely lost appetite and did not want anything more, we just wanted a reduction of money paying for compensation. Then eventually the final response we got was that we still need to pay full price for such a terrible meal given the argument that we have already consumed half of the dish and not finding out that it was raw in the first place. What an unreasonable deal that we had to pay for their mistake, and such a rude arrogant attitude. I kinda suspected that if I couldn't have talked in German, the waitress wouldn't even try to spend any effort to communicate with us.
Overall, I don't recommend people to go to this restaurant. Since they don't need to hold any respect to guests' rights (probably only foreigners or even...
Read moreSadly this place is no longer what it used to be but I am thinking back to 2006/2007. It was called Kartoffelhaus no.1, I think, back then and it was amazing. I then visited it just before the pandemic and it was OK. Today it was not a good exerpience. There was a family of 4 in front of me trying to get a table. They were turned away because they had no reservation. There was an elderly couply behind me. I was let in because they had a table for 1 and I was on my own That was at 8:30pm. The place is supposed to be open until 10pm. At 9pm the place was nearly empty and I was surprised people were and kept on being turned away. The only excuse I could think of was that were only 2 people serving the whole place, so it might be that the manager does not want to/cannot employ more people to manage the business. The food was not that great and it used to be better in the past. I had Austrian Schnitzel with potatoe wedges and grilled vegetables. Oh dear. The Schnitzel arrived after 40 minutes, dry, the potatoes were too greasy and the grilled vegetables were bitter. I wanted to season the meal with a bit of salt but there was none left in the salt cellar. I am not surprised. There is a lot of room for improvement. I was also told the moment I entered the place ‘cash only’. I said it was fine but the the waiter took a card payment from a family sitting in front of me. Why? Because I couldn’t speak German? No idea. Not a...
Read moreI recently had lunch here with my parents, guided by the reviews about their culinary traditional german delights. Excitedly, my family and I stepped into the restaurant, only to be greeted by an atmosphere tainted with unprofessionalism and rudeness.
While the food lived up to its reputation, the overall experience was overshadowed by the appalling conduct of the staff. From the moment we entered, we were informed that only cash payments were accepted, despite observing other clients paying with cards. This imposition, coupled with persistent attempts to upsell pricier items on the menu (in a very rude and persistent way), left us with a sour experience.
Moreover, throughout our meal, we were incessantly reminded to leave a tip, as if it were an obligatory fee rather than a gesture of appreciation for satisfactory service. This insistence extended to the point where the bill was annotated with a circle reminder, seemingly emphasizing their expectation rather than allowing for genuine gratuity. We got the bill after multiple trials and rude answers but force to leave some tip…as we dont speak the language and wanted ti avoid drama. In conclusion, I wouldnt come again, the food is...
