At first glance, based on TripAdvisor and so on a nice place to go as a tourist, turned out to be a tourist trap! Beware!

My fiancé and I are both fairly educated human beings. (She’s a professor, he’s a non profit manager) Both in Berlin for a city trip / getaway. After being in Berlin for a few nights and have an occasional drink we decided to hit google/TripAdvisor for a recommendation. At first we went to Hofbrauhaus, a great place! Then we went to Knutschfleck around the corner. What a disaster and disappointment of the evening! Arriving around 23:00 for a last drink we stumbled upon a small row which went very fast. We where greeted by an Asian girl/hostess who guided us to a shared table in the back. We both had one drink and since we where tired of strolling around Berlin all day we decided to go. Then the trouble encountered; we got presented a bill with ‘entrance fee’; which clearly we weren’t made aware of when entering the premises. So we made that clear.. first response; oh then we have to call the police! Clearly stating that they’ve tried this trick far to often! Based on principle we decided to wait on the Berlin police. Out of all expectation they went along with the bar, even tho it wasn’t made clear at the entrance that we had to pay. Normally in any given bar, club, restaurant or other public attraction you would’ve been given the choice; you’re made clear of an entrance fee upon entering the premises so you have the choice paying it or not, and then leaving. Not having it presented at the bill. It could’ve been 200€... The police strangely enough after hearing our statement agreed with the bar of paying a lesser entrance fee. It’s pure extorting, especially for tourism. Especially if you’re not mastering the German language. So a big warning to all; it’s a tourist trap and they, including the police (who literally admitted the extortion) just get away with it. Unbelievable for such a nice city. It’s not about not being able to pay, it’s pure principle. Same as with a cinema; you pay at the entrance and THEN you get a coke and popcorn....

TOURIST TRAP!!!!

One of the worst experiences ever!

We’ve been extorted into paying an entrance fee that we were never told it existed, fee that appeared on our final bill after we had only one drink at this place. When we entered the premises there was no indication that there was an entrance fee, plus none of the multiple bodyguards said anything about an entrance fee. There was apparently one small poster on a window ( in German) that said something about this fee. As we don’t speak German, (and we expect that, just like in most countries in the world and especially one like Germany something like this would be indicated at the entrance so that one can decide wheather he/she wants to pay for it, because it would be basic consumer rights) we did not know about it until we found it on out bill. This obviously felt like a complete abuse and striked is as a horrible tourist trap ( if you don’t speak German ... and don’t see the poster... you pay !!!) Not to mention that the waiters “agreed” up to some point with us that it was unfair but that they couldn’t do anything about it but call the police. The owner/manager refused to talk to us... On top of the frustrating experience of feeling like you’re being extorted in a third world country.... we also felt the horrifying image of the Berlin police officers that had nothing else to say besides that it was “the bar’s law” and we had to pay for it. It was honestly depressing to hear that the law inforcement in a country like Germany defends extortion and completely ignores consumer rights...

Eine sehr interessante, unterhaltsame und sehr schöne Show. Leider die Bedienung Kim unter aller Sau. Sehr unhöflich, sehr fragwürdige, ungefragte Kommentare abgegeben, nachdem man nach dem Abendessen Cocktails bestellt hatte. Sehr unangenehm und nicht erklärbar.

Es fing schon damit an, dass die Frage kam, ob wir denn schon Tickets hätten, nachdem wir schon am Tisch saßen und uns vorher am Empfang mit Reservierung gemeldet hatten, und am Empfang nichts über Tickets erwähnt wurde. 15 Euro pro Person ist übrigens völlig gerechtfertigt für diese tolle Show. Auf die einfache Frage, welche Tickets gemeint sind, bevor wir wussten, wie es dort abläuft, direkt patzig geantwortet und man hatte das Gefühl, sie hätte sich von der Frage angegriffen gefühlt? -Was eine reine Verständnisfrage war. Dann während des Abendessens wurde von einer, die sich selbst „Läuferin“ nannte, das Besteck schon abgeräumt, während man gerade gegessen hatte, ohne vorher zu fragen. Auf den Hinweis, dass man noch gerne zu Ende essen möchte, Gabel dann wieder zurückerhalten. Sowas ist mir zum ersten Mal passiert.

Das Essen, die Hauptgerichte dort, waren lecker und wir hatten dazu was getrunken. Während wir noch am Trinken waren und volle Getränke hatten wurden wir 2 Mal von Kim in kurzem Abstand hintereinander gefragt, ob wir etwas bestellen wollen. Man hatte sich unter Druck gesetzt gefühlt, obwohl man ja gerade erst das Abendessen mit den Getränken erhalten hatte.

Danach hatten wir dann das Gefühl, auch noch bewusst ignoriert zu werden, nachdem wir freundlich mit „in einigen Minuten“ vorerst abgelehnt hatten. Es war so, als wäre der Blickkontakt bewusst vermieden worden und nur noch die Kunden neben uns angeschaut und mit ihnen gesprochen (Aber im Kindergarten waren wir doch nicht, um beleidigt zu sein). Als unsere Getränke nun ausgetrunken waren und wir dann eben was Neues bestellen konnten und wollten wurde und dies nicht ermöglicht.

Danach mussten wir dann erstmal auf sie zugehen, und aufstehen, um Blickkontakt zu erhalten (obwohl wir uns erst sogar gemeldet hatten und die Hand gehoben haben und immer wieder versucht hatten Blickkontakt herzustellen, als sie uns beispielsweise gegenüber war) und jemals wieder eine Bestellung aufnehmen zu können.

Am Ende des Abends nach insgesamt mehreren Bestellungen dann die Krönung: Man wurde angeschrien, dass man kein Trinkgeld gegeben hat. Sie setzte sich dann auch noch neben einen, um darüber zu diskutieren und einen nicht gehen zu lassen nach der Bezahlung. ÄUẞERST unangenehm. Auch nach der Antwort, dass man nicht mit ihr reden möchte, lies sie nicht locker oder einen gehen und meinte: „SAG WAS! Was hat euch am Abend nicht gefallen, dass ihr kein Trinkgeld gebt“ im schreiendem, schon aggressiven Ton, wo man dann schon erst kurz Angst hatte, meine Güte, WIE unangenehm.

Sie hat dann eine gewünschte Erklärung erhalten, da es eben gute Gründe gab. Abgesehen davon weiß ich nicht, seit wann man jemandem Rechenschaft dafür schuldig ist. Vor allem wenn man durchweg bestellt hatte und die Rechnung schon hoch genug ist, kann man nicht von allen Leuten erwarten oder versuchen sie dazu zu zwingen Trinkgeld zu geben. Es als Selbstverständlichkeit zu nehmen ist zudem äußerst frech. Erst recht nach dem unangebrachten, unangenehmen Verhalten auch noch. Mit einer freundlichen Bedienung hätten wir uns echt wohler gefühlt, denn das Entertainment und das Essen waren super und gut. Leider machen die Menschen, die einen an dem Abend bedienen viel aus, und beeinflussen das Gefühl, sich als Gast wohl und entspannt zu fühlen oder eben nicht. Beim nächsten Mal erwähnen wir vor dem Genießen des Programms und Essens direkt, nicht von Kim bedient werden zu wollen. Dann wird der Abend auch 1A mit hoffentlich angenehmer Bedienung, der wir dann natürlich auch gerne...
