One guy was racist to me and two other friends (asians). We were seated in the middle of the outside area and suddenly this guy comes to us not once but 4 times to adjust our chairs violently. After running back and forth just to do this he comes for the 5th time and asks us to move to another table (it’s next to someone with 4 suitcases) that has less space at the edge of the wall of the building. His argument was that we are “spreading and taking up all the space so no one can pass by anymore” which is funny, since you were running around us and adjusting our chairs without a word just fine. MIND YOU there’s 3 other (white) people sitting next to us as well. He did not say to them they should move even tough one of their chairs was literally taking up the space of the other table. When I asked him why, he said he didn’t see them first (even though he had to pass by them first to come to us) and that the reason was we would take up all the space (the tables around us were empty and we were sitting as close to our table as physically possible). I could slightly understand if everything is fully packed and he really couldn’t walk through there, but he could walk just fine and it was in fact not packed. Apparently our table was not meant for three people, but why would you 1. seat us there then and 2. the table where the 3 white people were weren’t for three people as well then (since they’re 1 table apart and same sized). He shoved the QR code in my face saying I can write a complaint if I want to. So I am doing that since he insisted so badly. If you’re not able to be nice to your customers, don’t work as a server. Don’t know his name but looked middle-eastern. How are you racist when you’re a foreigner as well....
Read moreFather Carpenter offers a bustling atmosphere and some solid brunch options. We tried the "Benedict," featuring pulled pork, a perfectly poached egg, and sourdough bread. The highlight was the pulled pork – flavorful with a hint of spice that wasn't too overwhelming or too spicy.
We heard from our friends that the place offers good coffee, but since we don't drink coffee, we ordered the matcha latte with lavender syrup. The lavender added a subtle twist, but we wished the matcha flavor was more prominent. We also ordered hot chocolate with cinnamon, it was also enjoyable, offering a unique spin on the classic drink.
Finally, we shared the banana bread with peanut butter and jam. This classic combo couldn't go wrong, and the bread itself was good. However, it could have been a bit moister for an even better texture, maybe because it was heated up before it was served? We didn't eat it right away when it arrived, so we weren't sure.
Service was friendly and attentive, adding to the positive experience. The restaurant boasts a unique and interesting vibe, but be prepared for the potential downside: noise. The popularity means it can get quite loud, and we were fortunate to avoid a wait for a table. However, upon leaving, we saw several groups waiting outside.
Overall, Father Carpenter delivers decent food in a cool setting. It is a bit hidden in the innen Hof, but not too hard to find. While the taste didn't blow us away, and the price point seems a bit high, the friendly service and interesting dishes offer a solid brunch experience. However, with the price, potential wait times and noise levels, we might not visit it...
Read moreSome nice options, but not worth the wait nor the price.
We arrived at 10:30, and put our names down on the waiting list, being told the wait would be about 45 minutes. We used this opportunity to go for a walk and came back at 11:10. We ordered a coffee, which was served in takeaway cups, whilst we waited for our seats. The coffee is okay, but we actually decided not to have another with breakfast as it wasn't great.
We were seated at 11:20, on a shared table. We decided on our options, but when we came to order, we were told that one of the options was unavailable. This was rather disappointing, and odd that we hadn't been told when we were handed the menus.
We ordered the Eggs Royale and (what was essentially) avocado on bread with an egg. Both came in a timely manner, although the avocado on bread was missing the egg.
The Eggs Royale was excellent, but the avocado on bread was lacking anything special, and certainly didn't warrant the 14.5 EUR price tag.
The service from our waiter was good, he was super friendly, so we couldn't fault that.
If you pay with card, you have to pay at the front, which means queueing again with others waiting to order takeaways.
Overall, coffees and breakfast cost 40 EUR. It's not unreasonable, but I wouldn't recommend this place to friends nor family, as I feel there are better options...
