Dolores Mitte — Restaurant in Berlin

Dolores offers a take on Mexican food that feels more like a nod to Chipotle than an authentic experience. While the flavors are decent, it’s clear they’ve tailored their menu to cater to a broader palate, resulting in a version of Mexican cuisine that lacks the depth and richness you might expect from a more traditional establishment.

One of the main drawbacks is the portion size. The servings are surprisingly small, especially when considering the recent price hikes. It’s hard to justify the cost when you feel like you’re not getting much for your money.

Additionally, the payment process leaves a bit to be desired. Even if you’re just picking up a quick bite, you’re nudged into selecting a tip, reminiscent of the tipping culture in the U.S. It’s a bit off-putting, especially in Berlin, where service workers are generally paid fairly. This push for tipping feels out of place and adds an unnecessary layer of guilt to what should be a simple transaction.

Price: fair price for value for a big burrito; I’d prefer if they added a little love and balance the amount of ingredients so that a well-balanced umami flavor results

Nachos are super oily and not true tortilla chips.. All the food was cold. Multiple people had to go to the counter and ask for their burritos to be beaten up again.. I just wanted a plate of good nachos with meat, melted cheese and guac but no.. they gave me everything individually because apparently you can’t put all that on the nachos, and had to pay them as extras! (Like 1€-0.50€) The cheese and meat I really had to ask for or else they weren’t even included as “extras”, they made an exception because they saw my disappointment face. My boyfriend’s burrito bowl was cold as well. Very veryyyy disappointing. I can get better tortilla nachos from any pub or bar in Berlin!
