I went to Sisaket with my girlfriend (who is Thai) for dinner. The food was amazing and real Thai taste. I highly recommend the restaurant and to try real Thai dishes and not just your typical westernized dishes. The som tum(papaya salad) was Issan style with pickled fish sauce and was just how I remember from trips to Thailand. It should be spicy so I recommend to try it as spicy as you can handle. The yum pla dook foo(crispy catfish mango salad) was absolutely amazing. It has a perfect balance of flavors and textures. With the crispy catfish, sour mango, spicy dressing, and peanuts it's spicy and sour and salty and crunchy at the same time. It's everything. Highly recommend this dish. The Tom yum gung ( spicy sour soup with shrimp) was also a perfect fit for a very cold day. The chu chee pla is a whole fried Dorade fish with a sweet red curry sauce. This was also very good. The staff was also very friendly and we even ordered some extra som tum to take home because it was just the right taste.

We arrived as a large group, ready to eat a nice Thai meal. The atmosphere was great - hip decorations and art, smooth music and a pleasant colour scheme. After having ordered our food from a rich menu, we received our food after a modest 30 min, considering our group size. One of our group members had to wait quite a bit longer, however, as he was served the wrong food! The other people at my table enjoyed their food, but I on the other hand, had quite a different experience. I ordered the "Catfish cloud" and expected a robust meal. What I got was something quite different. 70% of my meal consisted of salad and sour mango- the rest was soggy breadcrumbs. I couldn't help but wonder why it was on the menu at all and why it cost 11€. My lichee juice was nice though. A friends coconut milk tasted like glue. Really tough to decide how many stars to give. Wanted to rate 5 stars according to the other positive reviews at my table, but my lackluster meal drops it down to 4.

I have been living in Berlin for almost 5 years and I must say Sisaket has been my top Thai restaurant in the whole Berlin. This is my third time dining in the restaurant. Now Mao Thai is a part of Sisaket and this makes it even better, by the food choice and the interior design. The price has been increased a little bit, I guess but it's the situation in general so I can't be bothered. Very delicious and authentic Thai food, friendly service and happy staff! It will definitely go back and try other Thai dishes in the future! 😊 The only improvement could be that the menu card could use a little improvement, use stronger material or paper, and the fried fish dish, I expected to get served as a full fish and not cut fish pieces, but that's just my preference.

Visited this restaurant twice in total during my current trip to Berlin. I visited here this Thursday alone, had a great experience but the restaurant also wasn’t busy when I was there. Went there again with a friend last night, 26/10/2019 around 8pm. Because the food was good the first time i visited so I brought my friend back a couple of days after. I don’t know what went wrong this time but maybe they were having a bad time. Food was still good, service was awful. It was so slow and we were ignored many many times, I don’t know if it was because our table was right by the front door? It was very hard for us to get their attention and they seemed to give more attention to those Thai and German customers. Ok sorry we aren’t Thai or German but we are still paying customers? I had to go over to the counter myself TWICE to get a simple chili sauce. Had to try many times to flag them down for a check. Also after we received the check, 2 other staffs ( one female and one male) were staring at us and giggling in Thai, just because we don’t understand Thai, from their face expressions, I can tell they were saying bad stuff about us. Maybe because we tried to get their attention during the whole meal? Well then try not to ignore your customer, be fair to everyone! We still tipped after because we don’t want to be the same type of people as they are but we will never return again. There’s many good Thai restaurants in this world, I really don’t have to be coming here to pay for a dinner only to be insulted. I hope the staff can see this review because discrimination is never ok and I thought Thai people were pretty mild among all Asians but now I’m thinking maybe I’m wrong after all because this have changed my point of view for sure...

Summary: great food but horrific service.

The long bit: firstly, it's only fair to say that the food itself was great. The problems started when the waitress brought the food over for one of the party. They then started to serve them-self their food. The other food then made its way over but it was incorrect. Turns out the food was for the next table. They simply picked the food up and moved it to the next table (all but the food that our party had sever them-self). All very strange for both parties.

We then waited a further 15 minutes for our food. All a bit odd but fine.

The food as great, but a good 40 mins after we had finished and our plates were still there. Asked for the bill, nothing. Asked again. Nothing. 30 mins later we asked again and the bill came. We raised the issue with service and the waitress asked us to hold on a moment. A further 10 mins past so we decided to leave the money for the bill, but withhold the money for drinks due to the poor service.

As we left the waiter yelled at us to come back in which we duly did. We tried to explain the problem to the manager who was visibly angry but would not let us get a word in edge ways. When he finally let us speak, we explained to him the poor service. He agreed that we had been fair and so we left.

Don't be put off if you want good food, but possibly don't go if you want your experience to last less...
