Out of all the restaurants I visited in Greece, I feel like I had the best food at this place. Beside the salaf that was a bit too salty, all the rest of the food had extraordinary flavours. The mastery in the balance between salt and fat was experienceable through the dishes themselves. The sausages with the mashed potatoes, the lamb with the mashed potatoes and the risotto, every dish had great flavours and nothing overwhelming the dishes. I especially liked the grilled flavours on the sausages that added a smoky flavour to the mashed potato as well. The service was also superb. All the waiters were friendly, patient and accommodating. They did however perform some dangerous manoeuvres around us due to the lack of space in between the tables which scared us a bit. The biggest thing that decreased the enjoyment of our meal was probably the wind and the rain. We were seated in their lovely balcony and everything was amazing at first but as the wind started picking up, everything on the table was getting caught in the wind. It only got worse when it started to rain a bit, there was only a parasol that covered us but we still got a lot of rain on us due to the strength of the wind. All in all, it was quite a terrific experience and the food was lovely. The prices are quite affordable, around 12-15 euro for a main dish. The portions are not really big but they are pretty reasonable. I wish I had tried their dry aged beef which was a bit more expensive but it sounds extraordinary. At the end of the meal, the waiters treated us to some local alcohol and some fruits which was greatly appreciated...
Read moreI am almost lost for words. The service was both attentive and light touch. They waited until between. Courses before asking if everything was OK. If you caught someone's eye they got to you as soon as possible and even kept an eye open to see your drink, check, had arrived in a timely way. The raki offered at the end of the meal was smooth and reminiscent of metaxa. If you sit outside you see the fort, the port and Dia island...and then there is the food. Oh my. So this is not a rustic taverna, it's a restaurant. The menu is curated and there should be something for everyone here l think. I am a fussy eater and we were so impressed with our the food we booked imediately to dine again and l had a Comletely different 3 course meal. The food is beautifully presented and has a distinct style with points of sweetness and unexpected combinations which are not done simply for effect but really add to the flavour and experience. I am not a gourmet and l also love rustic traditional Greek food but this, this was so good we have just re planned our last day on Crete so we can try to return to Heraklion on the day of our flight for final visit. Thank you so much. We hope to see...
Read moreWe went there for dinner last night and were thoroughly impressed. The appetizers were extraordinarily creative and delicious, with very special combinations such as a type of vanilla sauce with the Arancini. Everything is very nicely arranged so that the eye can also eat! For the main course, there was a roll of chicken that was baked in salt dough and flambéed and unwrapped dramatically before our eyes. It was served with mashed potatoes and a cheese sauce, a really delicious combination. The dessert, consisting of cheese wrapped in sweet kataifi threads, was also very good. The service is attentive and accommodating, and the furniture and plates are beautiful and modern. The location at the port in Heraklion has a beautiful view of Castro, the sea, and the island of Dia. The restaurant is on the street, which makes it a bit loud from traffic and ascending airplanes from time to time, but this tiny downside is completely overshadowed by all the other extremely positive aspects. The restaurant receives an absolute recommendation from us, and we will definitely return to try more dishes from the menu, although it should be mentioned again that the Arancini are...
