Harbor Docks is one of the best seafood restaurants in Destin. It isn't fancy but there is a great view, the sushi is outstanding and the ambiance is comfortable and informal. Harbor Docks supplies many local restaurants with the fish that they serve. The fish is always fresh here. Parking can be a problem when it is busy. If there is not a parking spot, there is another lot across the street. Frankly, I avoid the restaurant during their busiest hours, particularly in the summer when it gets mobbed and they is likely to be a waiting time for a table. It is more relaxing in the winter or during off hours. Prices have gone up here quite a bit since COVID. There used to be a separate lunch menu provided during lunch hours but that is no longer the case. Prices when up when the lunch menu disappeared. Fresh fish is always good. A platter is about $24.00 or so and available grilled or fried. I prefer to order the fish grilled and without the usual seasoning that automatically goes on the fish. The fish is fresh and the seasoning detracts from the taste. Try it with just butter so you can taste the fish instead of the salty seasoning. Pad Thai here is excellent. One of the chefs—perhaps she is also an owner—is Thai and she has shared her expertise with the sushi chefs and whoever cooks up the Pad Thai in the kitchen. One serving of Pad That is enough for two people. In an interesting juxtaposition, there is also a rural Southern flavor to the meals (not the Pad Thai). Black eyed peas and hush puppies are a staple here. There is a daily special. Some days it reflects the Thai influence, sometimes is looks like a rural Florida restaurant with fried pork chops and mashed potatoes or meat loaf. Cobbler with ice cream is also available. This is a pleasant, informal restaurant that is very popular and has been in business here a long time. There is a reason for its resilience in an up and or economy and for its popularity. For a better view, try the outdoor dining but wear sun screen on a bright, sunny day.

Read the reviews for this place, so I suggested it for dinner with my family. We, unfortunately, were all disappointed in the food experience so I wanted to share. The service, however, was friendly and prompt and the view from the patio was lovely! I ordered the grouper tacos, which came highly recommended. However, the fish did not taste fresh, was over cooked and the salsa didn’t have much flavor to add. They were not the worst tacos ever, but for $24 for 2 tacos and a side, they should have been so much better. These were the worst tacos we had while in Destin. My husband got the fish and shrimp plate and was also disappointed in the quality and quantity of fish. It was more like 2 fish nuggets and it too was not inexpensive. My parents ordered a seafood platter and were less than impressed with the entire dish, which was also covered with an aioli that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. I did change my side to the mash potatoes and those were pretty tasty! The server was super friendly and attentive. So he was the main saving grace for the experience. I think this might be a nice place for drinks on the patio but we definitely won’t be returning for the food sadly.

I really wanted to like this place but found it a bit lacking especially with the service. We had tables sit down after us, got to order first and left way before we did. To start we got the tuna and chips which were very good and I appreciated that the tuna wasn't mayo based. We also ordered the panhandle roll from the sushi bar. The sushi does take at least 30 minutes to come out (and we said it can come out whenever it was ready). It was very good and fresh, just wish the roll didn't fall apart so easily when we ate it. We ordered the catch of the day which was the swordfish and the chef's platter with blackened red snapper. The swordfish was good. Loved the stuffed shrimp and crab cake, the shrimps had crispy bacon in the outside and the crab cake has the perfect crunch on the outside and seasoned perfectly on the inside. However, the veggies were very mushy, they were probably frozen. The red snapper was extremely salty and way overcooked. I had to leave it behind because it was completely inedible. Otherwise, everything else was good.

This was highly recommended to me by a few locals (we were visiting from out of state) so we decided to try it out. We chose to sit indoors, but you could still see out into the Marina from our table. Personally, the atmosphere was very uncomfortable for me. There was poor lighting and the tables were a little cramped together. There's not a lot of space inside. Pretty much everything on the menu is about $10 overpriced. My boyfriend and I ordered a bowl of gumbo and the seafood platter to share. The gumbo did NOT taste like how gumbo should. It was mostly salt flavored broth. I was very disappointed in the gumbo as I have had far better gumbo in central Illinois. The seafood platter was better. The fries are delicious. I thought the fried oysters and shrimp were good, but the fried grouper didn't taste like anything special. Our two non-seafood-eating friends ordered the blackened chicken and pasta and said that it was delicious and they loved it. They also enjoyed the dessert menu. Because of this, I've given 3 stars instead of 2.

This is always our go-to seafood place. My niece (Jennifer) was 3, and when my Mama would visit, she would come with her. She was here this week to celebrate her 39TH BIRTHDAY 🎂 and of course, we had to celebrate at Harbor Docks. She was sad that Charles wasn't there because we would order the famous Mikeyrita, and Charles would do her a special strawberry liqured as she called it. The food is always fresh and delicious. I had my niece, great niece and nephew, and her husband. We set at a table that we have set at many times. I enjoy Harbor Docks yearly, but when my family visits, we eat here several times. The ones in my family that eat sushi say that you can't get better sushi anywhere else in the USA. You can't find fresher fish or food. The dinner salad is always a favorite. And the service, no matter how busy they are, is on point. The family tradition carries on. Thank you, Charles and Eddie, for a true family dining experience ❤️

My husband, two grandchildren (ages 10 and 12) and I are eating at Harbor Docks. The rum punch and Destin Ale, that my husband and I ordered, are delicious. The iceberg lettuce, canned mandarin, and slivered almond salad is dressed in a tart vinaigrette and tastes much better than it looks. My husband loves it, and I like it. I wish the orange slices were fresh, but the canned slices are okay, because I didn't eat here expecting an amazing salad. My husband enjoyed fresh grilled swordfish, sautéed green beans and mashed potatoes. Our grandson loved his fried chicken strips and home fries. Our granddaughter enjoyed her chicken tenders but took a long time to eat her fries. I liked my paneed chicken very much! (I asked for extra sauce.) Yummy! We shared wonderful bread pudding, that had the texture of custard and was one of the best we've had anywhere, and tart key lime pie that tasted like fresh key limes. Recommended!
