Cabrio — Restaurant in Budapest

We were really excited to try this restaurant as had been recommended it. The food was very tasty however the service was extremely bad which really ended up ruining the meal. When we got there we were told to sit on a table for 15 mins as our table wasn’t ready. This was an error and 15 minutes later we were given a table that had been free the whole time. We weren’t offered water when other tables were and had to ask for it. We ordered a few dishes and when we ordered we discussed that we didn’t eat meat (as we asked about one of the specials and whether it contained meat) so the waiter knew we don’t eat meat! when our food came one came out incorrect (aubergine instead of potatoes) but we noticed and asked for it to be swapped which happened but with no apology for the error. This would all be fine but not ideal. Then We started eating the pasta and it tasted of meat. We had both eaten a bite. We asked the waiter who said it did have meat!! He looked a bit shocked and asked us ‘is it going to be ok?’. One of us has not eaten any meat for 14 years so this was really bad. The damage was done by then as what could we do?? The waiter did not apologise or say anything else to us the rest of the night and when the bill came they still included service and everything! Excellent. Opened only recently, but leaving a huge mark on the local restaurant scene — it not only looks cool, but also it delivers on the food in outstanding fashion. Each of the dishes we tasted was a true sensation for the taste buds. Like some of the best Middle Eastern places I have been, they blend theirs with some playfulness known from French cuisine — giving it somewhat of a Mediterranean touch, but only a tiny bit. The result is astonishing, I do not know any other place in Budapest delivering such a sensation. All of that is delivered in the cozy atmosphere of what could be a small Parisian bistro. Incredible vibe, a great place with a youthful, yet sophisticated vibe. The dishes all look and taste very distinguished. We tried 5 dishes from their menu, which they change up a little bit every couple of months, so the menu online might not be the menu you’ll get. Our favorite ones were the bread with butter, deviled eggs and the chocolate mousse. However, you should keep in mind its a little more on the expensive side, we shared 5 dishes (tapas-style), each had 2 glasses of wine and the bill came up to around 60€ at the end.
