Boojum - Abbey Street: Dublin's Ultimate Burrito Fix! 🇸🇪🫂☘️
If you’re craving a huge, satisfying, and flavour-packed Mexican feed in Dublin, Boojum on Abbey Street is essentially a local institution. It's the king of fast-casual Mexican food, giving you massive portions that are fantastic value for money. 🌯👑
The setup is classic assembly-line style, but the ingredients are far from standard fast food. Everything is made fresh daily—from the slow-cooked meats (the carnitas and chipotle chicken are customer favourites!) to the vibrant, punchy salsas. They even offer a terrifying-sounding but beloved Naga salsa for the truly brave. 🔥🌶️
The Highlights (The Feast):
Size Matters: The burritos here are legendary. They are giant, tightly wrapped cylinders of Mexican rice, meat, beans, and fillings. You'll likely need to use a fork by the time you're halfway through, and you definitely won't be hungry afterwards. 💚 Customization Heaven: You are the master chef here. You choose everything: burrito, bowl, or tacos; black or pinto beans; all the fresh toppings and salsas. This makes it a great spot for vegans and vegetarians too, with options like Vegan Chilli Beans and Pork Imitator fillings. 🥑🥦 The Vibe: It’s centrally located right near O'Connell Street, so it's always buzzing with shoppers, students (hello, student discount!), and office workers. It’s loud, quick, and efficient—perfect for a satisfying lunch or a post-pub dinner.
While the service style is fast and occasional reports mention minor mix-ups (especially with delivery), the quality and sheer volume of the food keep people lining up. It’s a reliable, delicious, and budget-friendly win!...
Read moreWe have been a regular customer but when we went to the store this evening and and after having told them our strict vegetarian preferences, ordered veg nachos with melted cheese. While preparing our order in front of us, ignorant staff dropped non veg (pork or chicken piece) in the melted cheese container and thus contaminating the whole container and still continued to prepare our order with same melted cheese as if nothing happened and we immediately interrupted to remind him of our dietary preferences and was treated with sharp and mad looks and were even denied serving the fresh order with replaced melted cheese. Boojum have always been our preferences because of warm reception and customer respect that’s been offered but to my surprise this was shocking and shameful. Our sentiments were hurt and were treated rudely causing us to decide to never visit them ever again in future unless they assure us of improving their services. Customer dietary preference and sentiments should be utmost priority and management seriously need to take strict measures not to repeat this in future.
We would want a written apology and commitment to not have this repeated with any...
Read moreI was about to order a burrito bowl here last week but I had to walk out without ordering anything. One staff member was scratching her face and then the back of her neck/ down her t-shirt with her food gloves on (she had bad acne and it was a hot day, so she was likely scratching sweat down her t-shirt) and with the same gloves on, she then went straight to handling the wrap for the burrito she thought I was about to order, but I hadn't given my order yet. This was my first time giving this place a try after they'd given me a 1/3 full burrito bowl via Deliveroo 2 months before. The bowl was mostly empty, I drove all the way back in to the restaurant to get a proper bowl. The girl I brought it to seemed to not believe me and insinuated that I'd eaten the missing 2/3 of food. The manager on duty gave me a full bowl with no issue, but it was 80 minutes wasted between waiting for Deliveroo and the driving back in to town. I'll be avoiding Boojum restaurants in future, two awful experiences in...
