Avoid.
I can’t believe I’m even writing this review. One of the worst experiences we have ever had in a restaurant in Dublin.
Having read some of the other reviews, regarding food quality and preparations /,feeling sick and nauseated- I really hope they are taking these comments on and doing something about it.
Busy night. We arrive on time for our reservation, weren’t shown to our seats but pointed to the area. Sat waiting for before we had to go and get menus ourselves. Again, waited 15 minutes before we had to ask someone to serve us drinks/ food. Went to the host to see could they move us from gastro side bar to restaurant and they gladly accommodated which was great. Was told that their staff ‘aren’t well trained and sorry about that’
Lovely girl serving us - We ordered two started and oysters to share and mains to follow.
The starters arrived, oysters were very small with very little fresh water in them (we’re now wondering if they are pre-shuck?) took an oyster and immediately had to spit it out into my napkin. Was completely rancid. Trying everything not to vomit at the table, the other diners smelled the shell of the oyster in question and couldnt believe how off it was. We called the ‘assistant manager’ over and he took the plate away, barely saying anything, but returned 5 mins later to say that the oysters arrived from their supplier that day.. we asked had they smelled the oysters when they were opened. Nothing further, we asked the manager what the chef said. No apology, no regrets or hands up- we made a mistake. Nothing. Mains arrived, they were good although chips with steaks were severely undercooked (again, was busy).
We asked ‘assistant manager’ to speak to the manager. He arrived and told us ‘it’s not a big deal’. … honestly, we thought we were on a hoax tv show.
Bill arrived. Oysters removed, not a complimentary drink offered - nothing.
He gave us his email and asked us to come again and he would look after us - suffice to say we will not be back.
Food mediocre at best, but service is severely lacking. Anyone in the industry would understand, just own the mistake, apologise and move on.
I would be very wary of the food preparation there and will be making a formal complaint on the ‘not a big deal’ matter.
Overall, we wished we had chosen another place to go for our evening out. Was ruined. Do...
Read moreMyself and some friends popped in there Saturday after we did the Vintage Afternoon Tea Tour on the bus, the girls had gone in here earlier before the tour for a half hour and liked it so we went back there, the place was busy so no seating inside and that was roughly at around 2.30pm so we had to sit outside in the yard which I didnt like at all because it was freezing. I did see a yard heater at the back but not where we were sitting, first off they dont take cash at the bar outside and the guy behind the bar was very smart about it so I had to go inside each time to get a drink and the bar staff there were not impressed I had cash one guy said to the girl serving " she wants a Moretti and she is paying cash " and made a face then snapped the cash out of my hand so bad manners all round. My next issue is the toilets they are unisex so when we went in there was a stink from them of urine and to use the bathrooms I had to close the toilet seat down whilst having my hand wrapped in toilet paper after a man used it and also had to wipe away urine that he had left there on the toilet !! To me that is disgusting and why women and men have to use the same bathrooms is beyond me, as the day went on the toilets just got worse and I didnt see anyone coming in to clean them. The girls serving outside were nice and we did like the glasses that the drinks were served in but for me that was the only positive, I didnt think the atmosphere was that good at all and we were there for a few hours, we left there and went to another bar for food and I dont think I will return again. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there, it was €7.90 for a pint of Moretti which is standard over pricing when you are in Dublin City and I am from Dublin and work in the...
Read moreHighly disappointing and low quality experience, the prices of quality dinning but not the professionaliam. The food was fine, but the pure money grabbing nature of how we were treated was beyond belief. We decided to try here for an anniversary meal over Christmas because their websites conveyed a quality dining experience. We were instead stuffed into a room that was there to accommodate large group bookings, so the two of us were right beside two extremely loud groups of 10+ one after the other on our own, away from the main section of the restaurant.
We had booked the 'Asador' restaurant and not the gastro pub area, yet they thought throwing us into a function room was somehow acceptable. It was nothing short of pure disdain for paying customers that expect a certain level of quality when you market yourselves as such. There were a number of empty tables in the main area that we asked to move to but we were told "we're very busy and all booked". We booked as well, the exact same restaurant, why do we only deserve to be thatched onto a Christmas party? The server even had the nerve to ask for a tip and say "you're not tipping them (10+ grouping), you're tipping the staff" when we said that we were unhappy with our experience and it definitely didn't justify tipping.
In the future don't deceive customers and let them know they're being stuffed into a room that's nothing like what they booked, and also teach your server some manners, she's clearly lacking in...
