Nanetti's Restaurant, tucked away on the charming Dawson Street in Dublin, is a culinary oasis that transports you to the heart of Italy with its authentic flavors and warm hospitality. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an ambiance that feels like a cozy embrace from an old friend. The menu at Nanetti is a celebration of Italian cuisine, curated with care by the Chef. Each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with the finest ingredients to create flavors that are both comforting and exquisite. However, what truly sets Nanetti apart is the exceptional hospitality of its owner, Valerio. His passion for food and dedication to guest satisfaction are evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Whether he's personally recommending his favorite dish or sharing stories about the inspiration behind the menu, Valerio's charm and hospitality elevate your visit to Nanetti to a truly unforgettable experience. In the bustling streets of Dublin, Nanetti and Valerio offer a sanctuary where guests can relax, indulge, and create lasting memories. Beyond just a restaurant, Nanetti is a testament to the power of hospitality to transform a meal into a cherished moment shared with friends and loved ones. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the city, Nanetti Restaurant and Valerio extend a warm invitation to experience the magic of Italian cuisine and hospitality on Daeson Street. My personal experience at Nanettis wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. We went to Nanettis for dinner and I ordered the fritto misto comprising of fried squid and prawns to start and the linguine with prawns, clams, and courgettes in a white wine-based sauce for my mains. The fried seafood platter was very good and I was happy with how tender the squid was, though the portion size was small. The seafood platter should've been crispier too. As for the mains, the seafood linguine was really lacking in umami, compared to ones I’ve recently tried in other Italian spots in Dublin. Having said that, the pasta was nicely al dente at the time. At the prices they were charging, I was personally expecting something better. The service was good at the start but as soon as the place got busy, the staff weren’t able to keep up, in contrast to some of other restaurants nearby. Things really slowed down from the time our starters were finished to paying the bill. In summary, the food at Nanettis wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t excellent either - just OK in terms of quality and depth of flavours. But in my personal view, there are other Italian restaurants in Dublin where the value for money is significantly better.

A smaller Italian spot that I was looking forward to trying. I was excited to see the Amatriciana Aranchini on the menu as this seems so innovative but unfortunately they fell a little on the flatter side in terms of taste. The Calamari was just okay and the Bresola was good but should be served with bread. The ragu whilst looking delicious, again was just okay on the flavour side but the tagliatelle was perfectly al denté. One of my friends dining with me was Muslim and it was disappointing they did not mocktails nor did our waiter know if some dishes had alcohol in them. We also waited 20+mins for a waiter to offer us dessert menus which was strange as it is such a small venue. The tiramisu was nice but a bit small of €9. The mousse was again just okay. I think the lunch menu makes sense value wise but I don’t think I’ll be racing back.

Quite a disappointing experience!

First and foremost, it's abundantly clear that - at least on the night we were there - it was understaffed. There was 1 waiter catering to all needs throughout the restaurant, which was more than half-full at the time. This meant quite substantial delays in having our orders taken to get their attention.

Second, the ravioli starter is bland. It's small, too, but bland. It tastes like firm pasta with butter, but not much else. The main course of sea bream was good, but the carrots were very tough and not an ounce of seasoning. The main course portion is very small, so much so, that I was craving dessert. The waiter at the time didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee, he simply walked over and planked two dessert menus on the table and walked off. Very unusual. So whilst I was nonetheless going to order dessert, it took forever to get someone's attention (again), and so I decided to forego dessert.

The wine is over-priced, much like the food - for the quality and portion size you receive. The service was the worst I had experienced in quite some time. I came here after visiting Grano in Stonybatter - and they understand how to elevate Italian cuisine at the same rates (even with a Michelin plate) but with better quality food, portion size, and service. So to come here turned out to be a massive disappointment by comparison.

The venue itself is quite nice, though - cosy and intimate.

Would I come back? Probably not. On the way home, I was tempted to walk into a fast food outlet, as I still felt hungry! And this is coming from someone who tends to become full quite quickly.

For 150 euros, I expected better....

I think the worst part of our experience was the service and atmosphere. The waitresses acted as if someone had forced them to serve us, making us feel completely unwelcome. The way they handled the table setting was careless – simply handing us the cutlery instead of properly setting the table – when serving the dishes she was throwing them on the table.

No one checked on us throughout the evening, no one asked if we needed anything, and the food was plated without any care, looking like something you’d serve to pigs rather than paying customers. This is especially disappointing considering how expensive the place was. With such high prices and very few options to choose from, I expected the food to be treated with care and presented professionally – not thrown together like in the cheapest food hall.

We came to celebrate my birthday, and sadly, they managed to make it one of the worst celebrations I’ve ever had. To make matters worse, we could even hear the waitresses gossiping about customers, which was incredibly unprofessional and uncomfortable.

Overall, the atmosphere was extremely poor, the service unacceptable, and the value for money absolutely terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant...
