A great pub I enjoy frequenting, it has become one of my favourite places to visit north of the Liffey. They spin vinyls for music attached to a massive sound system that sounds absolutely fantastic! I have taken a few groups here and they have always remarked at the sound quality. Concerning drinks, there is a wide menu of different beers and liquors to sample so I am sure every one will find something they are interested in drinking. I like to try the different stouts they have available. The Big Romance's web presence is also refreshing. On their website there is a blog that they update regularly. I do like to read through their 'TBR Record Club' posts where they recommend and discuss different vinyls. Great way to widen your musical palette! Finally, The Big Romance offers delivery drinks from Thursday to Sunday! On their website is a store front where you can read about and purchase different types of beers, ciders and cocktails all available to be enjoyed at home! They deliver to Dublin area codes 1-24 and other outlaying areas such as Dun-Laoghaire, Swords, Malahide and Lucan! Do have a look! Anyways, The Big Romance is a fantastic place and I cannot wait to visit...

I went here for a drink before a show. I had a non alcoholic drink and my friends had two cocktails. I went to use the toilet, while I was in there an alarm sounded and I heard someone shout in to what I presumed was the men’s toilets ā€˜stop vaping’. I washed my hands and when I went to exit the toilet I was stopped by a man wearing a jersey and tracksuit pants aggressively shout at me ā€˜were you vaping’. I said no, he didn’t move and was blocking my path. He shouted at me again very aggressively ā€˜were you vaping’. I was really taken aback by this and was silent for a second, I then said no I don’t smoke or vape. I was extremely uncomfortable as I didn’t know who this man was, and he was clearly agitated and aggressive. I then said I don’t think it’s appropriate that you are in the ladies toilet and you are making me feel very uncomfortable, at this point I had managed to get to the stairs where he was still blocking my path. Once seated I asked the bar tender who was serving drinks if she knew who the man was. I was informed that he was the Assistant Manager. Totally inappropriate behaviour and very upsetting, I left here extremely shaken. For context, I am a 29...

I’ve been to The Big Romance a few times now. As always the cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere and music is banging. Unfortunately I think this place is confused as to what kind of bar it is and there are a few aspects that slightly irritate me every time I go.

There is no host. If you’re going to offer bookings on tables you need a host ! My friend and I were waiting in the entrance for a good 5/10 mins before we managed to get a bartender’s attention to ask about our booking. 2. The table bookings have a limit of 90mins, after which you get kicked off for the next booking :/ There’s no table service; I feel like if you take bookings for tables, there should also be table service, or just scrap them both. The One Society Pizzas are tiiinnnyyyyy. Idk who to direct this complaint to but €15-€16.50 for a pizza the size of my fist is just not on.

I know it sounds like I’m complaining a lot but I really love a lot of aspects of The Big Romance. I know that if they just straightened these few issues out, they would be one of the top spots in Dublin for...

I simply can’t praise this place enough. This is such a cool establishment, the vibe 10/10, the music 10/10, the cocktails 15/10 and finally, the staff 1000/10. You gotta love when it all flows good together. We went for some before dinner cocktails and I believe it was the best decision we’ve made for our short stop in Dublin. The cocktails were out of this world, and when it came to ordering a second round a truly brilliant staff member from Donegal, (who I’m gutted I didn’t get their name) did a brilliant job of not only helping us order but made off menu cocktails that completely hit the spot, just by asking us a few questions of what we like. They were so passionate and friendly, even when I stopped drinking (I wanted to remember my night!) they recommended ā€œFootball Specialā€ a drink from their childhood, which was a perfect mix up. We felt so welcome and looked after, any trip to Dublin going forward will include a stop here!

Loved the relaxed dive-bar feel to this Parnell St pub. The decor is low key and definitely deliberately lo-fi, but it's perfect in this part of town where hipsters apparently no longer have the option of going to the Welcome Inn. It's a lot more upmarket than the WI, with a carefully curated menu of craft beers and wines on tap, and the dark decor allows the aesthetic of the neon signage (mercifully spare), and the wall murals (which are reproduced on the glassware) to stand out. The atmosphere is free and easy (I was about a decade older than most of the clientele and the staff, and everybody was welcoming and friendly), and I can see why it's a vibrant addition to the area. If you're looking for a traditional Dublin pub, you'd better keep going because this is not it. But it's representative of another, younger side of Dublin, and it's all the better for it...

My friend and I stayed at a hostel down the road, and happened to walk into The Big Romance as it was opening one afternoon. Fast forward to us being there 5 nights out of that week, it’s perhaps our favourite bar in the world. Sean and Frankie made us feel so, so welcome, and are both incredible drink slingers. Outstanding music every time we were there, expect to hear a different genre on every visit. Heavenly. I cannot wait to go back to Dublin, whenever that may be, because The Big Romance will be the first stop after the airport šŸ–¤
