My friends and I chose this restaurant because it was conveniently located across from our hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to taste the food.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a young waiter whose demeanor was less than welcoming, he seemed visibly unenthusiastic. I said, "three people", and his response appeared to be, “The restaurant will be available at 9 PM,” followed by, “Is that okay?." Conversation was in all Japanese.
After a long day, I struggled to process what he said, and when I hesitated, he began to break down his words slowly: “available” “at” “9 PM" in Japanese. It felt unnecessarily condescending, especially after having visited over 20 other restaurants and bars during my time in Japan without encountering any similar behavior. There were a lot of tables clearly open and I understand its reservation preferred restaurant. We got there at 8:05PM, does he expect people to eat food (not including the cooing time) within an hour?
This experience left a sour note on an otherwise...

This is a store that discriminates against foreigners. I was shocked to find such a store in Kyoto. I will share the following facts. Please make a careful decision about whether to visit this store. • The prices on the Chinese menu (ordered via QR code) are all different from those on the Japanese menu. • The reason given by the manager is that foreigners often make a mess and break dishes, so the prices are different. • This store was sold to a young manager in their 20s or 30s, not the previous manager. • I have visited this store multiple times, but after it was sold, I felt I received discriminatory service even though I hadn’t done anything wrong. • The attached photos are evidence that the Chinese and Japanese menus are different. Kyoto is a tourist city, but is such behavior acceptable? This was an unbelievable experience. I plan to report this to the Kyoto City International Exchange Association, Human Rights Consultation Office, Kyoto City Consumer Affairs Center, Japan National Tourism Organization, and all relevant...
