Maybe this resturant was once great, but everything there was complete disappointment. We were seated right away and were told to only order the chef special, which is a multicourse meal. I assumed it might have been due to low staffing and we complied. What I did not expect was that nearly every meal down to the main course of fish was sitting out pre-made in tupperware. This was not meal prep... this was taking cold boney precooked fish out and putting it on the plate. The sushi also did not taste fresh, especially the Tuna. The only thing fresh was the tempura, which was not impressive. The best part of the whole meal was the salad. Even ordering a soda was disappointing as they charged 440 yen for a cup that was half full and mostly ice. We walked away spending over 10,000 yen for two people for two chef specials and two sodas.
It's true the food looks nice in the pictures. It's also true the waitstaff are friendly. However, the food is not fresh, it does not taste fresh, and it is incredibly overpriced. It gets two stars because we at least didn't get...
Read moreLovely family run restaurant, definitely recommend visiting. It seems as though the restaurant is run by the chef, his wife and daughter, they were all extremely friendly and hardworking. We didn’t have to wait for a table or make a reservation. I believe there are also two floors.
We had the chef’s special & it was extremely fresh and tasty. Worth it for the price, I think we had around 6 courses for 3,800 yen each (this is including the appetiser which made up for the 500 yen table charge each). It was salad, sashimi, tempura, sushi and one dish which was grilled fish (I asked for a substitute and got duck loin, which was so delicious!!). We also had miso soup and then a little biscuit with tea at the end, which was a nice addition! Great value for money.
We enjoyed watching the chef cook our food, never having to wait longer than a few minutes for the next plate. The daughter was also very attentive and always smiling.
Would recommend if you want a nice family run food experience...
Read morelovely little restaurant tucked in an alley near kyoto station. we went to eat lunch at around 1130-12pm and got seated at a MASSIVE table on the second level. there were only 3 lunch set meals for 1100 yen (tax included). the food was delicious but the portion sizes were quite small and not very filling. but for the price, it was worth it. (the set includes coffee/tea, miso soup, and a bean seaweed salad. the restaurant was run by an older lady and man chef. they were SUPER nice and we got chocolate cookies for free at the end of our meal. overall would come here again but only if i’m not super hungry because they didn’t allow us to add on individual...
