I love tofu. The night before I went here I was at the grocery store buying cold tofu dessert.
For me, this meal was awful. It was just 15 courses of very plain tofu, no veg, no fruit, barely any variation in flavor, just some variation in wetness/texture. Japanese food is wonderful at variety and presentation and both were lacking here. Beige plate after beige plate.
I enjoyed the yuba but that's it. Would've been better off just buying their small pack of yuba to go.
I was very full and very bored by the end. Would not recommend unless you love plain food.

Well... You would be wrong. Umenohama is one of the best hole in the walls in Osaka. They do have multiple locations but the one in Osaka was consistent in quality as the Kobe location I went to.
They are not as English friendly and reservation through concierge would be the best route if you do not speak English. Get a reservation before going is highly recommended.

Read moreif youre fond of anything tofu/soy then this would be the place to go. i loved the variety of food, the atmosphere and interior was also impeccable. it felt as if we were eating fine dining at a budget price and we adored the experience very much.
we had an early booking which was done online and were placed by the window which also gave us a great view from such a high floor. as i could speak japanese, i was the one translating amongst my friends and the staff were very friendly with their recommendations and descriptions of each course.
