Went here at around 4pm and was happy there weren’t any lines so we could get in without a reservation. We were informed that each person should order a dish which meant we had to order 3 dishes as there were 3 of us at the time. We had no issues with that since we’re keen to try the restaurant. We were led to our table immediately. There’s a QR code for the English menu but I realized that some of the prices in the English menu and the Japanese menu were different. So I ordered the special items and drinks in the English menu and ordered the other dishes to the waiter using the Japanese menu. We started off with a soy butter squid with liver which was heavenly. We got a mentaiko monjayaki with cheesw topping and it was also pretty great. The server assisted us in cooking the monjayaki so we just had to watch and enjoy. Thank you ののみーさん for assisting us! We also got a seafood yakisoba for our 3rd dish and this time it was さとうーさん who prepared it for us. I have to say, this was probably one of the best yakisoba I’ve had. Those dishes + about 6 soft drinks cost us less than 8,000yen. After paying, they would also offer to spray you with Febreeze to get rid of the smell from the grill. Thanks りょうさーさん for this. It was a nice touch while leaving the restaurant.

Tsukishima Monja Okoge is a great place to try out Monja, a special dish of Asakusa in Tokyo! Ordering is done via QR code, and the servers prepared the monja right at the griddle built into every table. The most popular item was the Mentaimoti Monja, a mixture of shredded cabbage, rice cake, and spicy fish roe, grilled with a rice flour and dashi batter. The cabbage, rice cake, and fish roe were grilled separately before the batter was added and everything was mixed together into a semisolid paste, which was topped with dry seaweed. The fish roe gave the mixture a deliciously spicy, umami flavor, and everything was eaten with tiny metal spatulas. We also had the second-most popular item, the Squid Ink Monja, a similar mixture of shredded cabbage and rice flour batter, but with the addition of chopped octopus, scallions, rice, butter, and black squid ink, which gave the monja a jet black color, and the flavor of the resulting mixture reminded me almost of a squid ink risotto. On the side, we also got a simple Lettuce Salad, made of leaves topped with puffed rice, a creamy dressing, and a soft poached egg. Overall, the food here was simple yet delicious, the service was friendly and entertaining, and everything came at a good value too!

A unique experience. It’s my first time trying monjayaki, the taste was somewhat similar to okonomiyaki, but it came with a more watery liquid. The staff will cook the dish for you. For the freshness of yhe ingredients, I would give it a 7/10. The okonomiyaki was delicious, same goes for the fried chicken. Also had the hoppy beer (red and white). They tasted somewhat similar. Both were refreshing. Price point, it is reasonable. It helps to make use of google translate to understand the menu as they state it upfront that they do not provide an English menu. The staff will help to freshen you up upon exiting the shop using odour remover to get rid of the stench from the cooking. Overall, it was a nice experience to try out the local dishes.

Shuma looked after us really well! It's our second time here, we came here last year, and they do the tastiest monjayaki, okonomiyaki, and fried noodles. Service is amazing, the vibe is too, it's located right in the middle of Asakusa. You might need to wait for a table but add your name to the list as you'll be in in no time. Good is grilled in front of you and though you get a bib, you mighr smell of oil afterwards :) Go in hungry as the servings are massive. You can get a lot of amazing food and beers for around ¥5000 total.

It’s a popular monji restaurant in Akasuka. We visited it for earlier dinner, ~ 18.00. Just a few couples were before us, we were waiting for 20 min in queue. It’s our first monji, it was good, but it took 30+ min to wait until girl started to cook monji for us. The prices don’t look reasonable, Korean salad cost 800 yen! Also, be prepared that appetizers are mandatory included in bill. But they don’t offer you any glass of water/ tea compared with other restaurants on streets

Love this joint that specialises in monjya! Didn’t know what is it but tasted great, ordered with pork belly! Also gotten the classic okonomiyaki with pork because that’s the only thing we know how to say. There isn’t an English menu but nothing a Google translate can’t do. Also paired our meal with Hoppy, an alcoholic drink that is so refreshing after the meal! Love that this place isn’t filled with tourist - so, totally enjoyed the ambience and meal!
