A Hidden Gem with Wagyu, Wisdom, and a Whole Lotta Wow
I stumbled into Sukizuki Steakhouse on a quiet weekday evening and—plot twist—I was the only person there. Introvert heaven, right? But what unfolded was nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience.
I was warmly welcomed by Brian and his mom (the owners), who both speak English and immediately made me feel like family. Brian introduced me to “the best chef in the house” (and since I was the only customer, I’m choosing to believe they meant that both sincerely and literally). This is one of those spots where a personal chef prepares a multi-course meal right in front of you. No pressure, right? But wow—what a show.
Let’s talk food: the wagyu steak was mind-blowing. It had this subtly sweet, delicate flavor—not too fatty, not overly meaty—just that perfect umami harmony that makes your eyes roll back in your head. Every other course was equally divine, like they were designed by someone who’s part chef, part artist, part flavor wizard.
While eating, I ended up chatting with Brian and got an unexpected cultural deep-dive into Japan. He’s super knowledgeable and honestly I walked away feeling smarter.
If you're looking for that rare blend of outstanding food, genuine hospitality, and unforgettable vibes—Sukizuki is it. If you're looking for your sign, this is it!
Massive thanks to Brian and his mom for the incredible dinner and for making me feel like family. 10/10, would eat...
Read moreQuite possibly the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. We went there today. Me from the UK and my American friend. We were served our food by Brian. Brian was born in the US so if you’re a foreigner like us he’s the absolute best. Will explain all the dishes to you and gives you the best recommendations for you to have the best experience. He cooks the food right in front of you which just makes the experience all the better. Talking with him adds to the experience so if you’re up for a great meal and great chat this is the place to come to. We went on a Saturday so it was busy and we only had to wait just over 15 minutes for a table but I promise you it is so worth it. Brian’s mother the owner of the restaurant was so apologetic but she needn’t be, because it wasn’t a bother at all and the experience they gave us is more than we could have ever imagined. She might just be the kindest person I’ve ever met haha. We ended up having a whole room to ourselves with Brian the chef which was the ultimate food experience. I’m writing this review just an hour after leaving this restaurant. So all the flavours are still vivid in my memory and will continue to be. This’ll be the first place I come to eat when I visit Tokyo again. You haven’t experienced Tokyo if you haven’t visited...
Read moreI feel like this is fate. We were looking for teppanyaki when we touched down at Fukuoka but unfortunately the restuarant we wanted to try, was not available.
Then towards the end of the trip as we move to Tokyo, we randomly googled and found this resturant. We then decided to give it a try. What a surprise find!
Usually, we are quite reserve in talking to Japanese due to language barrier. (We try to speak less to look less silly with our broken Japanese and guessing hand gesture) This is really the first time I felt the warmth fro m the family owned restuarant. The son(chef) and mom (owner) both spoke fluent english and they are so sincere!! We were just sharing that we visited Japan several times and again failed to see Fuji san and the mom was so fun she gave me a 2020 calender (she probably only had that one copy) with all the images of Fujisan from different views! And lovely origami flowers plus some cute cookies snacks to cheer us up! How sweet and warming! 😭
And needless to say, the food is really good!! We had teppanyaki and they are done on point!! Esp this unique twist where the "sushi"veg is made.
This is excellent food experience made even better...
