Ok so we booked this place for our 16 year anniversary, the food was mideoka for the price, the wine was good, but expensive, our waitress was so lovely, we finished our meal, paid the 44,000 yen £260 and decided to have a drink at the bar, having already requested the pianist/singer to give us a mention and play us a song on our special day, which he was happy to do for us, and indeed as we walked to the bar after our meal he wished us a happy anniversary again, so so far so good, We tried to order some drinks at the bar, only to be told there was a 2000 yen per person cover charge to use the bar, I smiled politely and reminded the staff that we had just spent 44000 yen in this establishment and It was our anniversary, the bar staffs attitude was they could not give a dam what we had already spent or what the occasion was, we felt so utterly insulted, to fly half way around the world to enjoy a special day only to have a 2000 yen charge thrown in our faces on our anniversary having just spent 44000 yen is totally and utterly discussing, its not as if they did not know it was our anniversary there pianist had announced it twice over a microphone and waved to us as we approached the bar, my advice to anyone thinking of visiting this establishment to celebrate a special occasion is AVOID AT ALL COSTS as theses people are quite prepared to spoil your occasion over 2000 yen thats £11.74 per person, And if your wondering if I just took this insult and stayed, Hell no we left immediately, felling insulted, Thanks XEX Tokyo for ruining...
Read moreIF YOU ARE A FOREIGNER STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. We went to XEX TOKYO Teppanyaki to celebrate our 9th anniversary. The staff was welcoming and kind and the food was delicious (except for the dessert which was a simple and bland fruit salad). The problem is that they overcharged us of about 150 euros because they didn't tell us that Kobe beef was not included in our 7 course dinner. When we arrived they asked if we wanted champagne, albacore or lobster (or a mix) and then the chef offered to choose between Kobe beef and another type of beef. It was presented like all the previous choices we had to make with no reminder of the price so of course we agreed to it. It's the responsibility of the business to make sure customers know what they are getting. If the staff is unable to communicate this crucial information properly, they shouldn't offer. Then when we saw the charge on our credit card we were shocked. My boyfriend sent them an e-mail which they ignored and when he tried to call them the receptionist hung up on him. He eventually went there in person and they insinuated that he was lying or maybe he was too drunk and couldn't remember (when we only had 2 drinks each) and just stuck to their guns. I have heard about things like that happening in Kabukicho but it seems that you can get scammed anywhere. They are liars and thieves and have no shame...
Read moreMy son and I were excited to treat ourselves to a nice dinner while on holiday in Tokyo. We enjoyed our dinner, (albeit lacking in flavor and expensive for what your received). We were 30 feet away from the small stage where a lovely couple were performing. After dinner, we wanted to hear a few more songs before we left for the evening. This area with a few seats in front was empty. We were sitting there for about five minutes when an employee rushed up and proceeded to drop to the ground inches from our faces. He started to yell at us to get out. We were alarmed and confused, not to mention afraid of his aggressive hand gestures. He informed us there was a cover charge and to leave. We were simply in shock after we had bad $200 for dinner to have this manager scold us. He completely ruined our evening. He didn't offer any apology forr screaming at us after I asked for his card and expressed our outrage at his extremely unprofessional and aggressive demeanor. I've traveled extensively and never been treated so rudely. Avoid this...
